— What You Can Expect —


Travel to the International Antarctic Centre and experience the South Pole as if it was just a drive away. 

Be transported to Antarctica in the Storm Dome, with temperatures reaching -18ºC. Feel the chill and hold real snow in your hand! Learn more about the continent and how it's affected by the current climate situation with an HD theatre experience.

Don't miss out on the Hägglund Field Trip, where expert drivers take you through the off-road terrain, just like you would across ice sheets and mountainous roads in Antarctica. Go next on an aquatic voyage in the 4D Theatre—currently showing the Ice Voyage, a thrilling adventure on the icy seas.

Get a chance to meet the New Zealand kokora, the smallest penguins in the country. See these penguins eat during the Penguin Feeding Show, and watch them swim around at the pool auditorium.

4D Theatre

Over the course of a short film you'll be wobbled in your seat, have mist and wind blown into your face, feel things grabbing at your legs, and see incredible 3D sights on the screen
Guests will be provided with 3D glasses
All children must be accompanied by an adult; children ages 5 and below may view the film at their parent's discretion
Guests with heart-, back-, or neck-related medical conditions, as well as pregnant travelers, are not advised to participate in this activity
Guests will get a little wet; please note before participating in the activity

Penguin Feeding Show

Penguin feeding times are 10:30 am and 3:30 pm daily
Penguin Talk is at 1:00 pm daily
Feeding schedules may vary; these are wild birds and the center needs to occasionally change times to suit the birds' day
Guests will be advised if there is a change in penguin feeding time

HD Theatre

Beyond the Frozen Sunset will be played onscreen continuously
The film is 17 minutes long
Guests can come in any time

Storm Dome

While protective clothing is provided, guests are advised to avoid wearing sandals, jandals (also known as thongs), or any other type of open-toe shoe
The room has a wind-chill temperature of -18ºC or -0.4ºF
This experience is suitable for all ages

Hägglund Field Trip

The ride is approximately 15 minutes
All children must be accompanied by an adult; children ages 3 to 5 may ride at their parent's discretion
Children ages 3 and below are not allowed to participate in this activity
It is advised that children be ages 5 and above to participate in this ride
Guests with heart-, back-, or neck-related medical conditions, as well as pregnant travelers, are not advised to participate in this activity
