A Colourcity Apartments

For some reason no one was at the property to welcome us on arrival, we had to call the owner to gain access to our accommodation. He had no idea that we would be arriving on the day. Apparently they had forgotten about our booking. The property looked as if it hadn't been in use for some time as it looked dirty on the inside. The outside hadn't been swept or cleaned in who knows how long. On the positive side, the location was very good. We were extremely disappointed overall, given the amount we paid for this stay.

We stayed in Banjo 1 and found it to be a very nice, spacious, luxurious accommodation which was let down by some sloppy housekeeping and neglected garden maintenance. Drawers and cupboards were stocked with what looked like the leftovers of vacating tenants; appliance cartons were left on top of kitchen cupboards; pot plants were intended; the terrace/garden area was badly leaf-littered and still contained defunct barbecues, broken chair, etc. Overall, just lacking a little TLC, I would say. We booked and paid for our accommodation on hotels.com. However, on arrival, the guy at Reception left us standing outside in the sun when the temperature was over 30 degrees, whilst telling us that he doesn’t accept one night bookings but that, as we were now there, he would allow us to stay. (When I suggested that this was better for him than letting the place stand empty. To which he responded, “Not really when you consider the cost of cleaning”. Not very welcoming, I thought.) He then offered to show us to a smaller unit than we had booked and paid for. We refused, of course, and were provided with Banjo 1, as we had booked.

The apartment was light and spacious, fine for our long weekend. Only issue is the poor shower that runs hot and cold!

It was very homely. Comfortable beds and plenty of heating.

Overall we were very disappointment with what we saw. Usually the most basic things would be a couple of little milk capsules to use with the half jar instant coffee that they had left us and may be a box of tissues. None of these were available to us. On our arrival we did not see anyone and no one contacted us for our entire 3 nights stay which was very disappointing. The bathroom was mouldy and mirror cabinet was covered with rust. The bedding (blankets, sheets etc) clean but very very old. On the whole the place is very tired and old. On the positive note, the location of the place is central and convenient that's all. Unfortunately we will NOT go back there nor we recommend it to any of our friends. We give the place 2 star certainly not 4 plus!!
