Shared kitchen and bathroom facilities were very dirty. Fan broken in room- we were provided with a second standing fan however could not have both fans on due to position of plugs, no one came to fix ceiling fan. Parking not guaranteed in hostel car park for guest which was not told to us, we parked in what we thought was overflow which resulted in a $330 fine. On arrival no staff member advised which car parks to park in or asked if we even had a car. Overall very poor stay

The Cube double rooms are a great budget alternative to the dormitories to have your own space, security and privacy. Fridge and tea making facilities included in the room. Convenience of a shared kitchen for food preparation. Plenty of communal areas and activities to enjoy. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Haven't been to the Arts Factory for quite a few years now. Love the place, its uniqueness in the vanilla of the modern Byron Bay, as well as its proximity to beaches, town etc. The staff were a mixed bunch, the lady that checked me was awesome, friendly, competent and welcoming.Other staff were a mixed bunch with some having little interest and others being somewhat rude. The joint is also looking a bit run down compared to what it was years ago. Would I stay again?, possibly, I hardly spent any time there as I was working at the Mullum Music festival, so if was living the backpacker ( as opposed to traveller) dream perhaps I would stay again.

A really cool hostel but unfortunately a few areas letting them down. The staff are great, welcoming and helpful. The hostel itself is a super fun space. Super cheap and affordable. And a near spot to Byron. However it does not attract the best guests. We found people did not respect the space or other guests. The kitchen area was disgustingly dirty. The 10pm noise curfew was ignored and the pod next to us raved with loud speakers until 2am when we had to personally tell them to turn their music off, after they had been told off by staff several times previously with no consequences enforced. The travellers were generally unfriendly and hostile, which is a shame as could be a brilliant vibe like other hostels if they could implement some new rules or stand up for the place and enforce them.
