Bella Vista Resort Belize

We had an exceptional one week stay at Bella Vista at the end of December. There was a tiny bit of confusion initially about our included breakfast since we booked through a third party but they sorted it out quickly and to our satisfaction. Linda is an outstanding member of the team, she really goes above and beyond to be helpful and kind. I feel as though we formed a friendship with her and will look forward to seeing her again at future stays! One thing I noticed that BV is above-par with is spraying for bugs regularly- there were very little-to-no mosquitos or sandflies bothering us, where as soon as we went elsewhere they immediately apparent. We will be back! Both San Pedro and Bella Vista have our hearts <3

Staff was great

Not bad at all, slept well, great location. Sites a bit scruffy around the edges ABBA no double glazing and glass Louvres means most ac was going out the window.

Great property and staff. Helped us booked our flight to the island and all our activities. Even last minute excursions were made possible. Great would def recommend.

We loved staying here. Loved the staff and owners made us feel welcome and when we did have an issue they did fix it right away. The room was spacious. We also loved the food at the restaurant Aja. We loved Dakota the dog of the hotel she is so sweet. Location is pretty good only 10 mins from town San Pedro. Overall I would recommend staying here.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating to our needs. The room was very nice. We felt like we were home.

Loved this resort. The staff were the best!!!! I loved the location, the resturant was delicious. We loved the music every night. We could sit on our balcony. The only thing was the price of the drinks was a little too high. Otherwise it was a perfect place.

The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food and drinks were great. The bed was the most comfortable one I had on my whole trip traveling around Belize. Will definitely visit again or try their other resorts.

Our favorite place to stay in San Pedro. The staff are all amazing!

From the initial booking the team were helpful - with arranging flights to San Pedro and collecting us from the airport. They were welcoming, the property was great - and Aji's restaurant was fabulous - so tasty!

Pros: Food and staff were fabulous. Pick up, drop off and organized tours were great. Great location near good restaurants and the Truck Stop. Cons: We stayed in the Bonefish which had everything we needed and was clean, but the bed was sooo uncomfortable.

I am conflicted writing this review. I'd love to give the people who do a great job working at the resort credit, but as a dog owner and a dog lover, I must do the right thing and tell you why I will not give this resort good reviews or even mediocre. There is a dog present on the premises known as Dakota and we've been told she is a "family dog". She belongs to the owner of the resort. The owner is an American who also owns several others in the area and travels a lot, leaving Dakota in the resort.The staff sometimes feeds her scraps from left over diners. We've been told she was fed regularly, but that was not so. I checked her bowl frequently, and it was empty. When she was finally fed and I saw was she was getting in her bowl, I cried and was appalled at the same time. Mostly rice and some beans covered with garlic and onions sauces, which are toxic to dogs. She is skin and bones, covered with scabs, and her poop was full of blood (we took her for walks). She is a beautiful black German Shephard with incredible personality, but suffering in silence at the resort owned by a person who could afford to provide better care for his "best friend." We've seen stray dogs on the streets of San Pedro who'd been better off than the "family dog" of a person with means. So, if you are like us and love dogs and are planning to stay at one of his resorts, please check on Dakota and if she doesn't improve, follow our lead. Unbeatable Service ask for Linda!

Love this place! First time for us. Second time for our friends. Staff very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Reef Shark room. Our friends were in Barracuda and another. Super cute bungalows with kitchens. We will be back and would probably choose different one that has kitchen. Ours didn’t have a kitchen but wasn’t a big deal.

We stayed in the Barracuda bungalow. It was perfect—one bedroom, full kitchen, covered deck, adequate WiFi, quiet, powerful a/c, plenty of space—for what we needed. Space is maximized at BV, so the bungalows are pretty tight but neither noise nor traffic were a problem. Food was good, drinks were great. Staff really couldn’t be any better. They’re friendly, helpful & always available. There is no beach, but rather a long pier. Be sure to take advantage of the free kayak. You will need a golf cart if you plan on spending any time in San Pedro (which you should). Some might see this as an inconvenience, but I really enjoyed driving around town, immersed in the hustle & bustle. Navigation, from the south end of the island all the way to Secret Beach was not a problem, even w/o mobile service.
