Douglas Fir Resort and Chalets

It was amazing. Free bus passes to downtown, real wood log fireplace! We slept 6 of us (Wife and I and 4 kids) it was overall amazing. A Deer was literally grazing outside our balcony. The view was amazing. The kids loved the water slides! Overall 10/10. We didn’t have any complaints, staff was polite and helpful. Thank you so much!

We enjoyed our stay here. Our kids (7 & 9) had a blast at the indoor play park and loved the waterslides. We liked having the extra space and kitchen area in our room. Made it easy to save some money and have some meals in the room or a place to store groceries.

The room was a bit shabby It seems that some of the rooms need to be upgraded

The upstairs bathroom door handle was broken. One of the teens with us got stuck inside and couldn't open the door (yes it was unlocked). It took 5 of us to try and about 20 minutes before we were able to get her out! She was tramatized! I told the front desk and she said, oh haha there's lots of things broken around here. She didn't write it down or seem to take it seriously, at all. The remainder of the stay, we had to leave the door unlatched while using the bathroom. I feel sorry for the next people in that room! What if someone is there alone and goes in the bathroom? No one will know they are literally stuck in the bathroom! Other than that, they stay was great. Unfortunately, this is what we will remember.

Had a wonderful night staying at the Douglas Fir. Rooms were big and clean and the hotel was quiet. Only wish is that the pool was open in the morning so we could have gone for a swim before leaving! But the kids play one made up for the pool not being open!

Good times in pool/hot tub area with the family

The room was spacious and had everything we needed. Loved having full size appliances. The room could have been a little cleaner in areas but overall it was good. The amenities were awesome! My kids loved the water slides and play zone. The free bus passes for Banffs public transit was awesome and the bus stop was close by. Overall a wonderful stay.

Washroom fan not working. Toddler pool was gross. slide was good but that pool was dirty too.

The property is dated but perfect for travelling with a family. Play zone and waterpark are great for the kids. The transportation to town is easy and very convenient.

Check in staff was less than welcoming and offered zero info about facilities or orientation. Very serious and I would say grumpy with enquiries. Main lodge is old and confusing and I spent 3 days trying to sort many doors and exits out. We finally just started using parking garage to walk out. Monday closure of pool and hot tub was not communicated at check in or anywhere else so unable to use on check out am. If safety is a concern no locks on patio doors or extra bolt of room doors. Free firewood was a positive but no matches or way to lite fireplace. Unclear rules or info about cleaning dishes etc end of stay. Very early and persistent knocking for room cleaning- 0800 really killed the mountain vibe and no chairs or table on patio. Full kitchen was nice with clean appliances. Limited parking

Fun waterlide for the kids

We stayed here 10 years ago and it was decent value then but it would appear nobody has deep cleaned the rooms since then. Our hide a bed sheets had not been changed (found a sock!), the room stunk like rotten burnt food, the fridge had several spills in it that hadn’t been cleaned, and the fridge didn’t work (so we had to throw away food). Cleaning staff tried to improve the smell in our room by leaving the balcony doors wide open all day (which could have led to anyone entering our room but thankfully that didn’t happen). The only redeeming quality were the kind and friendly front desk staff and the maintenance man. I’m sure there are better value hotels in Banff. I’m not usually this critical but it was awful.

Great place

We are a family of four and we stayed at a loft room and we love how spacious the room is. the kitchen is equipped with complete utensils and the view from the balcony is perfect. I have a six year old daughter and having a playzone is an added bonus for us.

The property and items needs updating

Very good place for a family have kids. A lot of fun to do.

We booked a loft room and it was excellent. We loved the space in the living area and the open fire. They even had an area where you could chop and collect more firewood for free. We saw lots of deer from our balcony which was really special. The kitchen was well equipped with a huge fridge freezer and everything you could need. The best were comfortable and it was quiet, warm and cosy. The pool was shut but there was still slides and the outdoor hot tub open. The hot tub didn't seemed to be manned and there was a snowball fight between a group of kids in the hot tub and some kids on the balcony nearby so it wasn't quite as relaxed as I'd imagined but it was a lovely area for the peaceful 5 minutes I spent in there before all the kids arrived. The area is beautiful and with free bus passes into Banff we didn't even have to use the car. We got there a couple of hours early to check in and our room was ready, so we were allowed our room earlier which was really lovely and meant we could unload the car and get out and enjoy ourselves sooner so we were very thankful for that. I would definitely want to stay here again if I was ever in Banff and would highly recommend it to anyone. The upgrade to the loft room was truly amazing and the views were beautiful.

Our grandkids loved the waterslide and play place but itcwas somewhat dted and the matresses were somewhat uncomfortable. Their was a strong pot smell in the hallway as well
