Hotel Casa Esmeralda

Funky decor, decent size room, hot shower and great location.

Convenient location close to Plaza Sotomayor (starting point for walking tours) and the 'tourist' hills, Cerro Alegre and Concepcion, and few minutes by Uber from the bus station. Charming old building with high ceilings and french doors in the room. Reasonably modern decor but looking a bit worn, and the textured paint in the bathrooms seems to hold a lot of dirt. Bathroom had a separated toilet and plenty of bench space, which was nice. Very basic kitchenette in the room (some crockery and cutlery, mini-fridge and a toaster oven but nothing to help get hot dishes out of it) and a larger communal kitchen available with stoves and filtered water. Only plastic chairs in the room; a nice armchair would add comfort. Large and comfy bed though. Passcode entry for the main door and rooms is handy so you don't need to carry a key. They changed the main door code every couple of days which is great for security, but annoying if you don't get their Whatsapp message advising you of it (my mobile data roaming didn't work at all while in Valparaiso). It's hard to find breakfast and dinner in the area - there are more options up on the tourist hills; a lot of Chilean restaurants seem geared towards lunch.

El hotel tiene lo que necesitas , sin lujos extras o amenidades, la habitación tiene buen tamaño , cocinera y baño , solo agregaría algún tipo de seguridad en el balcón pues el barandal está muy bajo y en un mal paso al tropezar con la canceledia de la ventana fácilmente alguien podría caer . La ubicación es perfecta, cerca del puerto y de uno de los ascensores más famosos que es el Reyna victoria, excelente precio para lo que ofrece .

Clean room and usefully equiped.

The hotel is very new and clean, easy and polite check in. The location is very good at day (although it's hard to find the entrance at first), close the main tourist places. At night it seems to be dangerous. Even at day we saw a car with a broken window very common in the neighborhood). It has no parking nearby so you have to park 10 minutes by foot. For reference, look for Ipanema Club, in Google maps and there will be an access ramp to the parking lot. We went there at night with the gate closed, but someone showed up and opened for us.

Clean, modern, and perfectly located. Only downsides were loud construction noise early in the morning (not the hotel’s fault), the neighborhood feels a bit sketchy at night, and no housekeeping during a 3 night stay which I was told is now normal policy. Still a solid choice if those things don’t bother you.

Kaunis, vanha rakennus hyvällä paikalla lävellä nähtävyyksiä ja ravintoloita. Sisältä kuitenkin moderni ja siisti, tosin IKEA-tyylinen "uusi ja halpa (mutta toimiva)". Ei siivousta alle 4 päivän vierailuille. Hyvä ja edullinen pesulapalvelu. Saapumispäivänä lähettivät myös viestin ja pyysivät saapumisaikaa ja toivottivat tervetulleeksi mutta silti ketään ei ollut paikalla avaamassa ovea kun saavuin. En tosin tarvinnut odottaa kauan. Ikävämpi juttu oli kun ovikoodi oli vaihtunut kun toisena iltana tulin illalla takaisin. Tästä olisi pitänyt kertoa etukäteen (olivat tosin lävettäneet uuden koodin Whatsappiin, mutten tiennyt etsiä sitä enkä myöskään illalla kaupungilla ollut on-line). This is a great value and a good lodging option if you have to be in Valparaiso. The hotel is clean and very organized inside, and the staff is very friendly and professional. The surrounding area was a little scary for my wife and I. This hotel is in the middle of the busy Valparaiso business and port activities. Be alert for opportunists overall. Upon arrival we suffered a "blown tire", where a pedestrian approached our car at a stop light and punctured one of our tires with a specialized instrument. I felt there was something wrong, so I was careful and didn't stop. I kept going and did not stop until I arrived at the hotel, a safe place.

Everything was great, well decorated, super clean and comfortable. I just didn't like much the surrands. Had to park the car a few blocks away and I didn't feel safe to walk there in the evening.

Beautiful hotel. Great location. Mix-up with payment meant I got a cash refund and not a credit card credit. Annoying. Otherwise, everything was perfect.

Lo incómodo de la zona es que el hotel no tenga estacionamiento ya que son muy caros
