Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Inclusive - Adults only

From check in to check out the experience has been pretty disappointing. Every thing is an upcharge for overcooked and over salted steak and lobster on a beach with sand kicking up into our food. The staff has been lackluster and disappointing and the rooms were filthy and blood stains on bedsheets from checkin which I reported and they did not change the sheets, the fridge in the room leaked water onto the floor. The included food was very bland or disappointing and the staff were terrible. All in all as a returning guest from first experience this has been the worst experience and will never be returning again.

My friends and I planned this trip together and were meeting up from different places in Canada. Of course the hotel could not know that but when we saw the difference in rooms for the same price, my initial disappointment, which was quite high, only grew. Our room had a rusty shower and an AC that sounded like an airplane. Our friends, who paid the same amount, had modern rooms with big, bright, clean bathrooms, and their AC was silent. We sweated through every night because it was so hot. Next, we rarely travel with a ton of cash on us because there are always ATMs around. Also, normally, we are able to change money at the reception or ask service people - bartenders, for example - to give some change so we can provide tips throughout the day. At the Melia, there was an empty ATM. No-one was willing to provide any change until I gave a $20 tip. We asked at the reception EVERY DAY if they could help us and we were given the run around incessantly. I finally got really frustrated and lost my temper and then an employee found me later and slipped me some change. No one else seemed to understand that I wanted to have money to give tips. We travel a lot and I have slept in rat-infested hovels. I have been attacked by so many mosquitos at some places that the employees had to give me their own allergy medicine, but that was the thing: the employees were nice. At the Melia, no one trusted us. I would never go back despite the amazing beach. (I have run out of space)

First of all the staff at this location is amazing! Very friendly and helpful. If you’re looking for a relaxing, zen place, this is right for you. If you’re looking to party and have fun, choose a different resort. All activities ended at 11-11:30pm. Restaurant closed around 9:30-10pm. There was no options after it’s closed. The place in general is very nice, but the rooms were outdated. When I first got there I requested one room, and was asked to return 2hrs later ad the room was not ready (fine with me as I got there early). When I returned and got my room, as I walked to the room the room was being painted and there was a very strong smell. I was assisted and changed the room. There’s also a strong sewage odor when walking in some areas of the resort.

It was a beautiful property with a very large pool, several options for eating throughout the day. Several options for wellness foods. Plenty of water and land activities for a younger and middle aged people. Crafts for everyone. great place for all ages.

We’ve been to this property twice, and will continue to return! The staff are incredibly welcoming. There are plenty of food options. (If you can’t find something you like. I suspect you’re content to complain!) The rooms are beautiful, we stayed at the Level both visits! Luis & Alejandro were lovely! (Concierges) We took American $ for tipping. Although not necessary, it is very appreciated! There are plenty of activities if you’re interested. We were there to sit in the sun and relax for 9 days! The only activities other than that was walking on the beach! I often see people complain about cold water.. we never had any issues with that! If you have an issue speak to someone right away! They are determined to make your experience memorable in all the good ways!

We paid for a premium/beachside room which turned out to be not exactly premium nor beachside. On the premium side of things: Our room had nothing extra or premium about it when compared to our friends who also booked in regular rooms. In fact they ended up having their mini-bars stocked better and more regular then ours, we left a note asking for proper attention to be paid, so for 2 days of the 7 days, we actually had the mini-bar properly refilled. On the beachside location, while our room was considerably closer to the main pool/and beach, it was nowhere near walk our and enjoy it. There was a bit of a walk, we could leave our room and head to the back end and catch a glimpse of the pool but that was about it. With what we received, I see no benefit to paying for the extra/premium at all, it's simply an extra cost that provides no reward. With the shuttle service, we could have saved some $$$$ and not missed out on anything with the exception of a slightly lighter wallet. The room itself was definately used, with wear evident on the floors and bathroom fixtures and such. That being said it was well kept and comfortable and I was OK with it. The staff on site were utterly fantastic and friendly with any interaction we had with them. The food was excellent with plenty of variety and choices that would even keep those extra fussy/picky people content. The Vietnamese a la carte was fantastic and enjoyed by all. All in all 4/5 for me.

Our first impression while checking in was very nice. The staff maintains the property's exterior well. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about the rooms. They are very outdated and in need of improvement. Some things, like the shower head was broken, cracks around bathroom tiles, dresser drawer wouldn't stay closed, etc. If you like prompt service, overall service in DR is slower paced. Staff is friendly but take their time. Tips are always appreciated, of course. Overall the Hotel food was very tasty. But beware of the soy based dishes as they are extremely salty. They do not use low-sodium soy. My feet had even swelled up after eating at their Vietnamese restaurant due to so much salt in the food. Dessert was also very disappointing. They look nice but are very blend and tasteless. I did not see any tres leches, or flan around. The vendors can also be quite annoying when you are trying to relax. They come around the pool and beach area often. Overall we did enjoy our time there. I hope you find my review helpful.

My room phone didn't work during my stay. I requested to get it fixed, they tried for few days but nothing worked, then they offered us to switch rooms but it was too late. It was very painful to book reservations or room service without a phone in the room.

I’ve stayed at five different resorts in Punta Cana over the past few years, and if I had to rank them, this one would be at the bottom of the list. I mean, it’s not a terrible resort - it’s good. But you’ll find much better deals for less money. Majestic Elegance/Colonial, or TRS are better options, for example. My impression is that it relies on the Meliá branding to charge more than others, but it doesn’t offer the same amenities or variety. There are few restaurant options, you have to pay extra for a piña colada served in a pineapple, room service costs $10 per use, some plates in ‘all inclusive’ places has an extra cost, and even a restaurant recommended by the butler had an additional charge. That said, I stayed in The Level area, which is supposed to provide better service and a premium customer experience, but that wasn’t my experience at all. My check-in took too long, the concierge ignored my WhatsApp messages when I needed help, and on the first night, we were supposed to have a restaurant reservation—but it didn’t exist. We had to come back an hour later. TL;DR: This resort isn’t bad, but it’s overpriced for what it offers. The Level area didn’t provide the premium experience expected, and service was disappointing. Better options are available for a lower price

Our stay at Meliá Beach Punta Cana was utterly disappointing, and I feel compelled to share our experience. We paid a premium for what was promoted as a relaxing getaway, but instead, we encountered a multitude of issues—from malfunctioning key cards to insufficient communication about how these concerns would be resolved. Despite bringing our grievances to management, no action was taken to address them. It's unacceptable for a brand with a reputation for quality to fall so short of its promises. On our final day, we suffered food poisoning from the meals served, which is inexcusable. The food and drinks were subpar, the rooms were outdated, and the service was inconsistent. Having visited numerous wellness hotels, I can confidently say this resort failed to deliver on its promises, creating more stress than relaxation. Reaching out to their customer service department proved to be a waste of time, as they did nothing to rectify the situation. I strongly advise you to consider alternate accommodations if you value your vacation. Don’t make the same mistake we did, your money is better spent elsewhere.

The property is beautiful with amazing staff. I didn’t love the food but generally it was ok . The only issue , the hot water stop working twice during my stay .

We had a wonderful time with family and friends. Group of 12..We love the resort location , gardens, restaurants, bars ,entertainment and we will definitely come back . It is to much to describe all - WONDERFUL !!! ,

The property is beautiful, well-maintained, peaceful. The room was all we needed and bed comfortable. The food I would rate a 5 out 10. The buffets offered many options which allowed us to choose our favorites. One restaurant had a Surf & Turf special for charge ($95 or $50 if you only do turf). Two of us were served very bad, perhaps spoiled lobster. The manager did not charge us, which we appreciated. We were advised to check out the Vietnamese restaurant, but unable to get reservations. The Mediterranean restaurant was nice. We enjoyed the pastas. One evening near the front lobby and bar was a "rock dance party", we very much enjoyed! Also, the spa was wonderful! My massage was a 10/10. All in all, i recommend this resort and would go back again.

Friendly staff, room was spacious, comfortable, and well equipped. Breakfast was really good. Nice restaurant at the rooftop and one of the best views for sunset.

The resort is beautiful and well maintained and the service adequate . Inconsistent service and some staff just not friendly at all.Was really not impressed the food and had questions regarding food handling. The beach, pools and spa are outstanding .

we had ronny make all of our reservations and scheduled golf and massages through him. he was very attentive and urgent! we had an excellent experience here, very clean and friendly staff.

Challenging to communicate with staff if you only speak English.
