Deshadan Backwater Resort

Staff were very helpful and organised our activities and transfers .one of the Bathrooms had mouldy smell which needs resolving. In quiet location but easy to get taxi organised at reception . Food quality was ok if a little slow . Otherwise had enjoyable stay.

Such a sorry state. NOT a 4* location. Breakfast was always cold and buffet not refilled unless someone asked for something. Sambar was always cold, and we’d be scrapping to collect enough. They would run out of cut fruit. A very poor breakfast. Nothing was properly seasoned or flavored. Neither Tea nor Coffee was to basic expectations. Both were milky and had hardly any flavor other than milk. Ordered of tea and coffee always took extensive amount of time even if all you ask for is hot milk and a tea bag. Rooms have an unbearable stink. The bathroom vent doesn’t vent out so need to make sure to close the door or the rest of the room reeks. Pool is very small. As a 4*, one would expect a gym! There is no gym. The loaner bikes were all running low on air with poor tires so quite risky to take out on a ride. Location is actually not so convenient. Be mindful you’d be paying a lot of premium price for taxis to take u anywhere. 1000 rs to go to Alleppy or to Kumarakom. 3000 rs from COK. 2000 rs to Cochin. No restaurants around so must go to Kumarakom or Alleppy to go to a decent restaurant.

Pathetic room.

The Room was good, however the service at the reaort was average. It seems they were sourcing food from outside and what ever was ordered 2 hrs. Back was only what was available.

Stayed for 2 days in 2 rooms, toilets were not clean with bad smell coming from water outlets, uncomfortable spring mattress, overall poor maintenance, food was not good except few local fish dishes. Only plus was the pleasing attitude of staff.

Spring bed.. very low level, was painful to sleep.. towels, sheets were very old, ac was not functioning

The palce is calm and quite. The ambiance is very nice and the staffs are good.

Vi spenderade en fantastisk vecka på Deshadan. Allt var magiskt. Vacker trädgård med två små kaniner som springer runt, en pool med utsikt på sjön där fina båtar åker förbi. Personalen var nog de mest trevliga indierna jag träffat på hela resan, väldigt hjälpsamma. Utvecklingsområde vore att hotellet borde försöka skaffa alkohollicens. Vidare måste jag även klaga på att matportionerna var ganska små gentemot priset. Maten i sig är dock extremt god.

We book 2 rooms here.The condition of the rooms are very worse and not maintained well.The rooms are worth full of cockroaches and insects.The swimming pool also was very dirty and the pool room too.Not recommended.

A good one for a short trip , Hopitality was truly nice specially Mr Santosh, Food was ok but not to our expectations. Pool is good but lot of chlorine czd skin dry .Room is nice . Good wash room . Bed & pillow no good . Over All 7.5/10

First thing we noticed in the room was mold all over the ceilings. The room smelled of mold. Towels smelled of fungus. Shower doors were missing. Toilet seat was broken and dislocated. Sinks do not drain. They tried to give us bed sheets covered in stains, we repeatedly asked for clean sheets, eventually had to settle for moderately dirty. This hotel completely ruined our one night in Alleppey. The room safe is not even fixed to the wall, what is the point of having a safe when someone can walk off with it! The entire property is old and lacks maintenance, the staff seem to think this is OK for advertising an international destination. We only felt dirty and sick staying here, and wanted to leave as soon as possible. We had the manager come down and he tried to justify the conditions by saying it was the busy season and they were booked back to back. What kind of excuse is this! The only thing the manager offered was a complimentary dinner, they did not attempt to fix the problems or change the rooms.

The overall experience was so good !!!! Staff is really very helpful :)

Small but good property and staffs are willing to help but lack of management and leadership, surrounding and rooms could be maintained a little more better. Food is good but way too excited expensive.

This hotel is right on the back waters - very wide frontage. Rooms are spacious and clean. The bathroom was very clean, with toiletries, towels etc.... We had dinner @the hotel which was reasonably good. Complimentary breakfast was really nice with a good supply of fresh fruits etcc... The hotel staff are extremely polite, welcoming and cooperative. From the reception to the end of our stay, we were very happy with their service. However the pond is filthy to say the least!! Full of dirt! Is it so difficult to clean it? The swimming pool is past its maintenance date for sure - coz the water was dirty and the tiles had come off / broken etc... Infact I cut my toes on there. With a little tidying up, this place is great
