Garden Lane Backpackers

Stayed at this hostel one night and its sister location garden house hostel. The room that I stayed in was a 4 bed mixed dorm. Two bathrooms on floor of i think 3 or 4 dorms. Sometimes they were occupied for a bit and you have to wait. There was BIKE PARKING in parkade. Hooray! They also allowed you to leave your bags until check in for free which is needed as a budget Traveller. Staff is helpful and kind.

Two nights, didn't access breakfast left earlier for tours. Clean, good space, hot showers okay location walkable.

Great location although set away from the main road so could be a little worrying at night if walking alone. Lots of shops around.

The main problem for me was the garbage smell in the kitchen, elevator and stairways. And yes, there may be 8 bathrooms but those are spread over 3 floors and include men, women and handicapped ones.

Not very clean. Have to pay for a towel. Limited info on how to use the car park they offer. Very noisy area. Would opt for different accommodations next time.

Pas terrible, mais bon! Les points positifs : - L’emplacement est excellent; - Le lit est bien; - Le personnel et les résidents sont très gentils. Les points négatifs : - Le déjeuner inclus est très de base et il y a seulement du pain et des céréales; - La chambre est très petite et le rangement à bagages est une cage très désagréable à utiliser; - On attend tous les bruits des salles de bain et des autres chambres; - Pas d’eau chaude lors de ma 3e nuit; - L’Auberge a besoin de rénovations. En résumé, pour ma part, je ne reviendrai pas, mais si vous avez une ou deux nuits à passer l’emplacement et le prix sont biens.

Worst experience on a hotel/hostel ever. Misleading pictures, misleading info. Off to a good start. The receptionist was welcoming. Then we get a room where the floor planks were almost coming apart. The mattresses were okay, but the pillows were thin as paper. The room had a can of water, a dolce coffee machine and mugs. There was something in the water (looked like food leftovers). On Hotels.com the pictures of the bedroom is close to being 100% identical. But it’s a photoshopped kitchen that does not at all look like the actual kitchen. Different surface, different design, different colors. On hotels.com it states “top quality breakfast”, that’s one of the main reasons why we chose this place. So VERY disappointed to get up to a serve-yourself breakfast where you had to open a cheap bag of toast bread, there were 2 cheap cereal to chose between, the fruit bowl was half expired, the 2 juice variants were the cheap €1 fruitjuice from a shop, and especially that the only coffee solution was to boil some water and put instant coffee. To top it off: when finishing breakfast, you had to clean and dry your plates, mugs and cutlery. The bathrooms are share and first come first served. The shower head is broken so you have to be 160 cm to actually use the shower. And the elevator is incredibly noisy when used (you can hear it from your room) We should have stayed 2 nights but were so disappointed that we checked out after 1 night. We could get no refund or compensation.

Easy walking to town!

Staff was not super friendly or welcomjng. Ilder ajd a bit rundown. Breakfast was super basic. Good location tho. Good for a short stay.

Great location in a real neighborhood with a few high streets close by. Staff were super friendly. Clean facilities. We had a private room with shared bathroom and didn’t have any issues getting into shower etc. Lovely kitchen and lounge area with a great view. Only downsides were street noise in the morning from street cleaning and garage door opening and closing, which was quite noticeable even though we were up a couple floors and off to the side. And we had a bunk bed with one super comfy mattress and another that you could feel the metal springs; we asked for an extra duvet as a topper and it was fine, but a new mattress needed.

Very nice affordable stay option in Dublin! Location is pretty good, around 10-20 minutes walk for every major attraction. The kitchen and living area is also very nice! Only thing is the beds are kinda small and short but they were still comfy :) Also kind of a quiet hostel but if you like that it’s perfect.

I arrived to the hostel early afternoon. Check-in was an easy process and the receptionist was very friendly and offered a few recommendations on things to see in the area. Upon entering the elevator, there was a posted list of things to do. My accommodations were just as described. I was assigned the bottom bunk as requested due to my mobility issues. I went back downstairs to purchase a lock for the under bed safe. I later gave myself a tour to the 3rd floor where I found a lounging area, washers and dryers, a full kitchen with freezer, refrigerators, two stoves, and ovens, televisions, and a small patio outside. Most of the guests I encountered were friendly, lively, approachable, and engaging from all over the world. Many of them addressed each other by name and seemed to be friends. I was given suggestions on where to go to pick up food. I walked to nearby Lydl and Tesco and picked up snacks and food to prepare. The kitchen is well stocked to cook a complete meal from scratch. The bed was comfortable, and I slept well. The next morning, I went to the kitchen for a continental breakfast provided by the hostel. It was interesting to note that they have long-term guests that call this hostel their home. The hostel was safe and clean. If I'm ever in Dublin again, this will be my go to spot.

Loved my stay! Some locals say this area is a bit dodgy however, didn’t feel really comfortable walking to it at night since it’s a little isolated. But very lovely staff and clean facilities would bring me back!

This hostel is quite centrally located and relatively easy to find (although the directions I was sent were not all that easy to understand, this would not be a problem for anyone with a cell phone and data to access Google maps). The wifi worked well. The breakfast room on the top floor provides lovely views and even an outdoor patio. The breakfast was entirely satisfactory although I'm no fan of instant coffee and that's all that's available. There's an elevator too, a real bonus!

Very quiet and homely-feeling hostel situated to the west of the tourist centre, about 5-10 minute walk from both cathedrals. We had a 2-person bunk room which was clean and comfortable. There were plenty of bathrooms which were cleaned well every day. Breakfast was fruit and toast with various spreads, we didn't use the kitchen outside of this so can't comment on cooking facilities. Lovely views from the balcony on 2nd floor. We also received discounts from some of the restaurants linked to the hostel which was a great bonus (the hostel kindly sent us a list of restaurants to use).
