The accommodation at the Bosun is fantastic. We stayed for 4 nights visiting family who live just up the road. Everything about the place is lovely. The view across the river to Cobh is stunning. The room was lovely. It had everything we needed. The shower was amazing!
We had breakfast each day. The “full Irish” was incredible. The nicest breakfast I’ve ever had. Special shout out to Nicky and the girls who couldn’t do enough for us.
There is free parking in the Bosuns own car park across the road. We could see our car from our room.
The food in the pub for lunch or dinner is gorgeous. If you like sea food you’re in for a treat. I had the mussels which were beautifully baked with a garlic crust one night. Delish!
Monkstown is a lovely little town and a great place to base yourself whilst exploring Cork. We had a trip out to Kinsale, a 30 minute drive, which is well worth a visit. We will definitely return to the Bosun. Can’t recommend highly enough

Overall it was very disappointing from the check in when he told us that we didn’t have a room because there was an issue on their end even tho I called hours before arriving and nothing was said but somehow he just happened to have one available, going into the room it looked ok but when you start to actually look around it was not clean at all, the kettle had dirt marks all over it inside and out, there was two lights in the toilet and not one of them worked, going to lay on the bed I noticed there was a yellowish mark on my pillow so I just turned it over because there was no extras, the mattress was like sleeping on the floor with a sheet wrapped around us, no heating in the room and honestly the place just felt unsafe with no cameras anywhere and no staff around at all plus the front door had no lock system so literally anyone could walk in whenever. The next morning we got the breakfast and it was actually really nice but the cutlery and plates were not in the best condition. Honestly would never stay here again unless they did huge works and actually put in the effort to detail.
