Joli Guesthouse

A beautifully designed guesthouse in a safe area of town; good pool and breakfast (although quite expensive); rooms were comfortable, but we always seemed to have at least one mosquito. Staff is friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

The Guesthouse came recommend by friends in Maputo. The room, staff, and facility were wonderful. We took the upstairs suite and the patio with sea view were great. Breakfast was excellent every morning. The staff were always trying to help and make sure all of out needs were met. Highly recommend.

A small (not crowded), clean and quiet place. Quiet and secure neighbourhood as well close to many embassies and NGO offices.

Lovely big rooms, comfortable bed and a very nice bathroom. and as a bonus, in my room, there was a small secluded balcony. It was so nice to have a space outside the room. and the wifi was great. Breakfast was also good. The pasta de natas were extremely tasty.....

We were warmly greeted upon arrival. The room was what we were expecting, although the incense/perfume in the room was a bit too overpowering for our liking. This was just an overnight stop, so we were not in the room very much. There was safe parking for our vehicle (although I imagine that this is very limited, as only 3 cars can fit in). The reception was very helpful in organising a taxi to take us to a restaurant, and even organising another to collect us at a designated time. The afternoon tea was a nice touch, and unfortunately we were not able to get full enjoyment of the breakfast, as we were rushing to leave in the morning. We only had a continental breakfast, but this was very tasty, with many options for a small establishment. As the guesthouse appeared to be fairly full, we were worried that it may be fairly noisy, but we did not notice too much noise from our room.

This place is a little jem. I have stayed at Joli Guesthouse more than four times and I love it every single time. The staff is extremely helpful. The breakfast is the best part and the chef went out of his way to get lactose free milk for my breakfast

Very nice and cosy place to stay in Maputo and at unbeatable rates. Would not hesitate recommending to anyone visiting Maputo for work of leisure.

Comfy, small guesthouse with clean and big rooms. balcony and lounge area available. beautifully decorated chic rooms and common area. nice breakfast with fresh fruits juices and eggs to order. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. airport shuttle available upon payment at the reasonable rate. nice pool which is very clean. Nice location close to diplomatic area, embassies, un and some restaurants. only setback for me was that no dinner is available on site so must order in for delivery or eat out. overall great guest house which is beautiful and cozy with nice staff.

The property was very clean and staff were great. However the breakfast was not all that, i feel like it could improve.

Great location; super clean; great pool; quiet setting

It was clean and comfortable. The facilities were well-maintained and the pool area was nice. The temperature was a bit hot/sticky in the common areas, but otherwise a good experience. The coffee and cake during the late afternoons was a nice touch.

On first arrival everything seemed fine, however at the end of my first day (of a two night stay) there, if I hadn’t already prepaid online with no-refund i would have left (approx $100 per night!!!). Overall the hotel is over priced for what it offers. The management and cleanliness are not quite up to par with flaking paint in the rooms, shower drains that are slow to pass water and leaky showers that resulted in a partially flooded bathroom (thankfully I had placed a towel on the floor that caught the water) - which brings me to the inadequate number of towels provided. The walls have remains of squished mosquitoes and The garbage cans were not emptied from the previous guest, i hope that the bedsheets were changed!!! The walls are thin and I could hear everything being discussed both at reception, the lounge room, in the dining room and also from the neighbors house (!!) which meant that trying to sleep-in on a Saturday morning was impossible. When I finally did give up and went to have breakfast they had all the camomile, mint and lemon, and all other speciality teas possible, but the basic black tea was not available, and only coffee. Similarly I had to insist that I wanted milk. Finally the sound on the tv in my room didn’t work but thankfully the internet was fast enough for me to watch Netflix.
