Numa Amsterdam Helmers

The room might have looked like the pictures right when they opened - it almost didn’t seem like the same place as the photos. It was very run down, paint was chipped and peeled, some walls had holes in them. The place smelled like there was mold somewhere in the building when it didn’t smell like there was a sewage spill whiff in the air. You could hear everything going on in the building. We were on the ground floor which was not great in the sense that we could hear every time anyone walked through the main door and walked on the stairs. The toilet was in a cupboard smaller than harry potters room under the staircase. My towel smelled like it came from a house with smokers. There was a strange chest in the living room with a padlock on it and also one in the toilet (that I figured might be some electrics? I hope). We were only there for two nights and spent all day out of the room. If he didn’t have plans and needed more than just a place to sleep- I would have been furious. Even then - I spent one of my bonus nights to subtract from the price and it was a total waste of money and a bonus night fee. I really cannot recommend this place at all. As if it needed adding - there was construction next door - which was super loud and was on/off from early morning to early afternoon (we were out of the house after that). Would have been nice to know - we would not have booked it knowing someone would start drilling in the walls and hammering early in the morning.

Our apartment had no noise reduction from the apartment above it, so unfortunately we heard the neighbors walking around upstairs all night/early morning.

Overall, we can tell that the original care was there. We appreciate the paper towel, dish washer, & washing machine pods, tea bags, pepper. The window doesn't close properly. It was not completely closed when we first entered the apartment. The husband worked really hard to get it as closed as possible. The toilet smells. The radiator in the bedroom doesn't work very well. It was very cold on some nights. And we had winter clothes from the Arctic. Paint is peeling in the bedroom. There are marks in the shower. The cleaning staff didn't dust the towel racks, under the coffee machine, so we cleaned over it. It would've been nice to also have wash cloths. It is a nice utilitarian layout and we were glad to be on the first floor. The pin code was easy. Expedia listing should include the city tax so it doesn't come as a surprise if an additional cost.
