Alpine Chalets

We’ve had the best time at Alpine Chalets. Amazing hospitality from the staff, the rooms are clean, tidy and very modern. The views were spectacular of the mountains! Highly recommend, will definitely be back :)

Good room size and value for money. Really decent view from the second level. Owners are renovating so room we stayed in was comfy but aged. Hopefully all rooms will be updated soon.

My room was the top floor of the chalets. There were very steep and narrow stairs to get tot he room, but it wasn't a big deal. There was only a glass storm door as the door which offered no privacy or sound blocking. With the road noise from the highway, I got almost 0 sleep. There were spider and cobwebs all over the place. The shower was very difficult to get to a good temperature and had very poor pressure. Easily the worst stay of my trip to New Zealand.

Basic accommodation for a hiking active vacation. Older slightly tired property with a great view of the volcanoes. Great communication with owner /manager

We stayed here for two nights, before and after our Tongariro Crossing trip. The room was clean and had everything we needed. Check in and communication was straightforward. The ear plugs left on the table came in handy as the property is located next to a fairly busy road and trucks transporting cars stop and do their driver change-over next to it. Also the carpet in the room could do with a refresh as it does not smell very nice.

The manager Mary is SO KIND, so helpful! A real pro. I have to give her credit. This place is very disappointing to drive up to. Kind of run down and not what I was expecting. However, we asked and were given a main floor room instead of 2nd floor because of all our luggage. Room #3 is newly remodeled and in perfect condition. It is not plush - very basic. But to a good standard. I would recommend some hooks behind the front door, and in the bathroom to hand things. The bed was actually OK - comfortable. Mary brought us extra blankets which was kind. Unfortunately it was very cold and rainy when we arrived and the weather didn't change. We left the next day, even though we had booked a 2 night stay. We could not handle the weather. Please be aware the weather system here is DIFFERENT than the rest of New Zealand we experienced on our 12 day trip. You really need WARM clothes, gloves, hats, rain gear, warm coat, etc. We were not prepared. Alpine Chalets sounds so cozy, fun, friendly, etc. Instead we found it rather desolate in the Spring. Very basic. I believe this place is getting renovated.

Mary has keen attention to our needs. Property location is very good and accessible to gas station, restaurant and activity areas. We really enjoyed our stay and can't wait to be back,=.

Très bien situé et belle vue sur whakapapa. Restaurant et mini golf à proximité. Possibilité de louer du matériel de ski à 600m. Enfin, les gérants ont été adorables.

Mary is very accomodating and attentive to our request. The place have an excellent location and nearby everything you need - gas station, restaurants, whakapapa ski area.

This is a warm cosy clean place. Excellent kitchen area and other facilities. located near a pub and mountain. Would highly recommend

Great location, close to amenities and Mary is prompt and easy to communicate with.

Me and my husband had a great time. Mary was so friendly and warm. She made us feel welcome. Would definitely recommend staying here if travelling to Mt Ruapehu as it’s really close and convenient.

Very warm and cozy accomodation. Excellent location. Amazing views and the best part was the host Mary Very pro active with communication. Even gave us plenty of time to check out. We would love to stay here again.

Hospitality was excellent very attentive and communicative. The rooms were warm and cosy, beautiful views of Mt Ruapehu would recommend !

Very comfortable stay at Alpine chalets - really clean and comfortable beds, kitchenette had everything it needed. Great communication with the very friendly owner who greeted us and had a little chat.

Excellent location. Our unit had very good views of all three volcanoes and we were lucky with the weather. The property is a little bit dated but was worth the price. We would consider returning in the future.
