The guest near my room argued loudly. Daily. Communicating with staff was horribly, not willing to resolve guest issues. The rooms were smaller than advertised, continually I would bumb into room furnishings. No space to setup iron board safely. There was no hand soap in the bathrooms hand soap dispenser, I had to request from housekeeper. The bathroom window was left open by housekeeper after she stated that she cleaned the inside of my room. Mind you, I am on the first floor. (Second room) my first room; the bathroom window lock is broken. (Room 212) did not feel safe. On June 25, 2025 after returning to my first floor room I was unable to access entry to my room. I had to sleep inside of my daughters car parked on the motels parking lot. (Not a Hotel.) Although I received a telephone call regarding room change and key activation the guest clerk did not acti activate my card for usage unknown to me until returning to room after having had been off of property from Tuesday morning 06:30a.m. ; 6/24/25-06/25/25; Wednesday morning at 01:55. I made repeated calls as well as repeated visits to the motels office up until 06:15 a.m. at which time I was able to connect in person to a live person as he entered the office. (Can be viewed on the Motels ring camera) There seemed to be no care/concern that I was unable to access my room at such a late hour. Seeking reimbursement of Wednesday 06/25/2025 cost of stay which I reported to the Motels checkin clerk at 06:15 this morning.

You should not call it the Sather Hotel. It is clearly a motel, with all that that implies. Definitely not a hotel experience.

The staff was friendly and accommodating. But i must say the hotel is in terrible condition. Bathroom was dirty, the floor was so slippery, there was water damage all over the door frames and the cabinet where the fridge was. The bed sheet was stained, which let me to believe they dont change the bed after each guest, luckily i caught the cleaning service before they left an did change it out for me so i appreciated that. All in all i wouldn't stay there again for the price that i payed.

A nice basic, functional, and reasonably priced hotel with a fine location.

Close to greek theatre was good,a bit noisy on street and bed wasn't comfortable, all in all not too pricey and convenient.

Overall, it’s simply an ok place to stay nothing fancy. Hotel rooms were recently being renovated but in a budget. Good location in downtown and walking distance to shops and restaurants. I was woken up by a strange beeping noise coming from the attic at 2am. It kept beeping every 10 seconds and never stopped. Parking feels unsafe because it’s so close to the street and has no fence/wall. I didn’t have any expectation but hotel breakfast was a joke more like a snack protein bar.

Clean service too early

The only reason they are in business is due to the college town visitors and they care least about hospitality and service. Very dirty bathrooms,rude and indifferent front desk staff.Manager not on property most times and hard to talk to.But they hardly care as they keep getting business regardless of service due to Berkeley being a college town

My room floor was not clean however Staff was excellent.

Walking distance to the university and restaurants. Good parking and a resonable price.

Sure! Here’s a shorter version: ⸻ The front desk staff was unhelpful and a bit odd. I was placed in a room right next to the road—extremely noisy from traffic and foot traffic, making it impossible to sleep. The floor was also dirty, with dust coming in through gaps around the door and windows. For $293 a night, it definitely wasn’t worth it.

Price, location and availability of parking were excellent. Room, although a bit smaller than expected, was as advertised, very comfortable and lighting was excellent. Breakfast was very limited, but adequate. Toilet didn't flush properly at first, but was functional and got fixed as soon as I pointed out the problem. Overall, I was quite satisfied.

Staff very helpful even on a very busy week.

The bedding was dirty, and the shower was absolutely disgusting. There was even a used bar of soap left in the shower. The price was unbeatable since it included free parking, which is rare in Berkeley but not worth it. I am all for saving money, but there is a point where it outweighs any savings.
