Clean nice place to stay

Checked in for 1.30pm, was told it is £10 per hour before 3pm check in - there was no discretion on the 30 mins as the receptionist pursued the £5 for 30 mins so I paid the £15. Checked in to a room with scaffolders outside my window swearing and talking about women with loud music. I headed to reception (bare in mind it is now 1.45 as my room was so far away and there is NO telephone in the rooms). Moved to another room, TV was not working and the there was NO wifi signal. By this time its about 2.10pm and im sweating buckets so ended up having a shower to come out and then head back to reception and then be moved AGAIN to room 216 (upgraded they told me) BUT TV not working again, eneded up with two ladies helping to fix it again, to leave and then come back then try again. NO fan in the room, window was open but main road was right outside my room. DI NOT SLEEP at all! Worst hotel experience of my lift, wish I chose a premier inn. No manager on check out so left all my details with receptionist who said she will pass on the details, its now 7 hrs since I left and NOTHING - Am I surprised? NO. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL - THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THEIR GUESTS.

No air conditioning at all in the hotel, which was a killer on the hottest week in UK history. Food and drinks were good apart from the dirty pint glasses. Overall, ok.

We checked in and were given room 241 upstairs. When we saw the room we were appalled as it was small ,very hot, and there was a brown corrugated iron roof right in front of the window, so nothing else could be seen. I returned to reception to ask for a different room but the unhelpful girl said the hotel was full so no other rooms were available, but all hotel receptions say that in this situation. However, a much more helpful girl intervened and said that two garden rooms were available, and she even got a young chap to come with me to help with the cases. He showed us to room 302 which was absolutely lovely, spacious, bright and with double doors leading to a small patio with a table and chairs. Beyond was the garden with a lawn and flowers, a lovely outlook. A fan was brought to keep us cool in the unusual heat, and we had a nice meal in the restaurant that evening. We would like to mention the young chap who helped us with our cases from the first room and even refused a tip, he was pleasant and courteous and helpful. Also the second girl on reception who found us the garden room, and the staff in the restaurant who were cheerful and attentive despite the heat.

No air con in the rooms or fans. 30 degrees heat and stiffling. Windows open a few inches so no airflow. Corridors to rooms were dark and oppressive. I would be concerned about how to escape a fire in this hotel. The movie "The Shining" sprang to mind as I walked the grimey corridors to my room. Carpets were filthy. The decor was bogie green. Fire alarm went off at 2 in the morning but didnt wake me because I couldn't sleep on the brick pillow that was supplied. Yuk yuk yuk. I wished I had slept in my car. What a hole.

Staff were lovely and helpful but the whole place is in need of restoration. Paint peeling off surfaces, dark corridors, no air con and no fans available during this hot spell

Meal deal not honoured

Hotel is mid refurb. Room was big. Shower had a bit of a leak from the hose but was fine and powerful. Only real issue was noise from room above so request top floor if you go

On arrival, we went straight to our room. At first glance it seemed acceptable, although the bed looked like very little effort had been made in preparing it. We were hungry, so we went to the bar for drinks and food, which were reasonably priced. When we returned to the room later and got into bed, I went to the bathroom and noticed dirty towels in the shower. I would normally have gone to reception at that point, but it was late and we had an early start the next morning. In the morning, it became even clearer that the room had not been cleaned after the previous guests. There were no tea bags or supplies, and it was obvious we had slept in a bed that had not been changed. I went to reception to request fresh towels and tea items. The lady on duty was very apologetic and brought replacements immediately, which I appreciated. However, given the circumstances, I would have expected some form of acknowledgment or goodwill gesture, such as a partial refund. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I won’t be staying again.

No room service. Beautiful bathroom but no-where to hang anything.

The hotel is undergoing some revamp work but the quality of the work is spot on. Amazing and clean rooms, the beds are incredibly comfortable and for myself being disabled and suffering with really bad back, neck and legs problems this was a god send as I find most hotel beds really uncomfortable. This is most certainly a hotel I will be coming back to and staying at everytime I come to the area which is often. The staff are super friendly and extremely helpful. I couldn't recommend this hotel enough wish I had tmfound this hotel alot sooner than where I normally stay!!

Nice Hotel

The hotel is undergoing a renovation at the moment but it is difficult to see where the refurbishment has been completed and where not. Our room was very sparse so if it has been renovated it is not properly finished. Also, we were looking forward to a quiet weekend break but only found out when we got there that an 80’s night was taking place on the Sunday which went on until well after midnight and disrupted our sleep. Don’t think we will be returning any time soon.

A 2 star hotel at the best. Disappointing as we had stopped here previously. The day did not start well, when we were kept waiting at reception, then informed parking was an extra charge.

Reception Staff were great, very pleasant, restaurant staff not so great, we waiting 15 mins to be seated for breakfast, breakfast was awful, Bacon not cooked, no eggs, Ants crawling on the bar where the pastries, cereals and juices were. The carpets on the corridors were absolutely filthy they were clearly having renovations carried out at the hotel which we were unaware off at the time of booking. We booked a superior room has we required a fridge only to find no fridge, no bottled water, no toiletries ( all had clearly been watered down). The mattress was hard and during the night doors were been slammed so not a great night. Would not recommend and will not be going back.

Hotel refurbishment in progress so it was very dusty and dirty in hall ways

It's obvious the Hotel was undergoing renovations. When we arrived, it wasn't too obvious where the reception was, which was just a desk in the bar area. Our room was on the 1st floor, when coming out of the lift on that floor a room map would have been really useful. We (and another couple who arrived around the same time) were wondering around like lost souls trying to find our allotted room. The room itself was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Though there was no evacuation map on the back of the door (though when one stepped into the corridor, the route to safety was obvious). Our sleep was good. One last observation, when we left our room in the morning. We were loaded with a suitcase and several pieces of luggage. When going through a fire door on the way back to reception. My wife opened the door and held it open for me to follow, only to trip up on a single step down of about 10 cm height. My wife stumbled but didn't fall. A notice on the proceeding fire door would have alerted her to the step. Better signage would have helped. Having said that, we enjoyed our stay.

Nice hotel, currently undergoing renovations. Staff were amazing and breakfast was lovely.
