The views are excellent. The hotel in need of a renovation. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast is good.

We had trouble locating our hotel in Taormina and a staff member at Sonia helped us with a cab driver. We had planned to stay one night at the Hotel Sonia but next time we will stay there every night.

Hotel Sonia is set in a stunning setting clinging to the side of a mountain overlooking Mt Etna. She is beautiful but in need of an update and more care around the property. It is clean, the staff helpful and courteous, the rooms ok, breakfast is great, bar service ok, and the village it is in is definitely worth the detour.

Stort hotel, men hyggelig pga mye særpreg.Gamle møbler og antikviteter overalt på hotellet. Hyggelig og hjelpdom betjening. Nydelig utsikt fra terrassen og swimmingpool området. Frokosten var grei, men ikke ovrdådig. Få gjester på hotellet når vi var der, så er nok litt bedre atmosfære, med litt flere gjester. Det skal allikevel sies at det var deilig med ro etter dagstur tilTaormina, hvor det vrimlet av turister.

We travelled to Villa Sonia as a couple in our mid-30s for 6 days in early April, staying B&B in a Superior Room (Room 410). Location Centrally located in Castelmola, with shops and bars a 5-minute walk away—plenty to do nearby for relaxed days. The walk to Taormina took around 30 minutes down and 35 back up. We’re moderately fit and it was ~20°C, but the uphill stretch could be tough in hotter months. There’s a bus stop nearby (we didn’t use it), and a taxi from Taormina sea area cost €40. We rented a car and used the secure car park (€7/day). Staff The standout of our trip—every reception staff member was kind, approachable, and gave great recommendations with detailed maps. Breakfast staff were also friendly and attentive. Cleanliness Rooms were cleaned daily to a high standard. All areas, including the pool and breakfast space, were consistently spotless. Facilities The hotel has a charming feel. Our room had an incredible view of Mt Etna, a huge balcony, and a very comfortable bed. No kettle initially, but one was provided same day on request. The pool area was lovely to relax in, though too cold to swim in April. Pool bar closed off-season, but drinks/snacks available in the lobby. Food & Drink Breakfast was good, with a small but varied selection—special mention to the apple cake. We only had dinner once, but food, wine, and service were all great and well priced. Very good value. We would return in a heartbeat!!

Very good breakfast. Very good personnel. Terrible noise handling. For example they start machines during the night. So if you like being woken up, this is the place for you.

Very nice location above Taormina. Good food in restaurant with very attentive and kind staff. Hotel is a bit outdated. Pool not heated when we were there. Lots of extra charges e.g. jacuzzi and sun towels.

Das Zimmer war sehr schön. Das Personal ist shr freundlich. Beim Frühstücksbüfet hätte ich mir mehr Auswahl bei Wurstwaren gewünscht.

Friendly and helpful staff, wonderful beds, large rooms, amazing views from balcony. Great breakfast. Shuttle service into Taormina a big plus. Really happy to have stayed here.

Décoration désuète, prises électriques inopérantes. Salle de bain avec une douche très très vieille….et petite, vraiment pas digne de cet hôtel. Par contre vue exceptionnelle !
