Decent enough hotel but it was during the heatwave and the rooms were too warm, could not open the windows much due to the limiter.

Room was lovely :) Staff were really nice and helpful . The only downside was it was 33 degrees outside and there was only 1 small fan apart from that we had an amazing weekend

Hotel and staff lovely, very clean, friendly staff, room good. Restful stay, no. We stayed from Friday to Sunday, and there is clubs right across from the hotel, the noise was horrible. No sleep until 4am both night, only to be up again at 6am for early starts. Absolutely shattered was an understatement. Such a shame as it’s a lovely place.

I had a really relaxing time and parking was brilliant. Really lovely staff.

Great hotel but I pressume because of its age this was the reason for no air con. The fan provided just circulated warm air, but it was 34° outside. This would not stop me from booking again. Breakfast was lovely, fresh and plenty of choice

Bit of a trek to some of the rooms

Nice hotel in lovely area of Stevenage. Good sized car park, room spacious and clean as were all areas of the hotel. Breakfast was a disappointment, sausages and bacon anemic so not very appealing..toast for me!

Excellent location, many bars restaurants and food shopping around.

Room was really hot, dark room. Hotel had carpark but the turning can be easily missed. Convenient outside with a tesco express just opposite.

We stayed in room 105, which was a double room. The room was clean although boiling hot when we got there as the thermostat was on the highest setting. We turned it right down but it took a long time to get anywhere near cool enough to sleep (and it wasn't a warm night). We couldn't open the window as there was a huge fan or air-conditioning unit right up under the window which made a loud droning noise all night long. It was unbearable. Even with the window shut it was loud and we got no sleep. We stay at the Cromwell fairly often, but won't be staying there again after this experience. We had a four hour drive the following morning and were exhausted from lack of sleep.

More lighting in the room, better ventilation

Stayed at the Cromwell for two nights. When I arrive there was a sign on the desk saying for assistance go to the restaurant. The hotel room it's self was lovely and a very comfortable bed. The only thing I did notice was the yellow blanket at the bottom of the bed had some stains all over it. Other than that I had a very lovely stay and definitely be back

We recently stayed at The Cromwell and, aside from one very disappointing incident, our experience was largely positive. On arrival we received a complimentary room upgrade, the room was lovely, and breakfast at Rump & Wade was excellent with attentive staff. Unfortunately, on 13th December, my partner and I were spoken to in an aggressive and completely unacceptable manner by the Night Manager. When returning to the hotel, we had to pass through a crowd outside the entrance and were shouted at despite calmly explaining that we were hotel guests. The tone and language used were alarming, unprofessional, and entirely unwarranted. This behaviour was particularly disappointing given how courteous and professional all other staff members were during our stay. I have already spoken directly with the Hotel Manager regarding this incident, but felt it important to share our experience here as well.

Check in was smooth. The room was clean and well presented. The thermostat was tricky to understand as we wanted to turn up the heating. Bed was very comfortable as far as we were concerned although the softness may not be to every ones liking. Breakfast was laid out well (buffet) and there was as much as you could eat. One thing that was dissapointing was the plates were cold which is a no no when serving up your breakfast as sometimes with a buffet you spend quite a bit of time wating for toast etc. Overall a good experience.
