We stayed just one night and were very pleased overall. While the first room we were assigned needed a bit of cleaning, the front desk promptly moved us to another room which was spotless. We had dinner in the hotel's restaurant, and the quality was spectacular. Who would have expected it in such a small town! Worth going just for the food! The rooms are on the small side (The architect could have designed with a smaller bathroom to use the extra space in the sleeping area) but if you're just there to sleep, it was adequate. The window opens but does not have a screen, and opens wide enough on the ground floor to allow entry which is a security concern. Overall a great stay!

Modern decor, clean rooms, breakfast very good choice, staff attentive. Lighting in rooms is poor - need a bedside light and one for desk. Floor lamp not working. Curtains should be light blocking. Good for parking.

The staff was awesome, even taking the time to make a triple espresso for my son to get him going before we left. The hike to the top of the waterfall is amazing, but not for the faint of heart. It has what I call troll steps (steps made of racks that can be 1.5 feet high. Going up isn’t too bad but you need to take you time on the decent.

I checked in late due to longer travel times. Front Desk upgraded my room to a deluxe for free and immediately made a resy at the hotel restaurant. The restaurant allowed me to be 7 minutes late due settling into the room. I appreciate the cleanliness, friendliness, and comfort of this hotel. I highly recommend this hotel.

The Hotel Klaustur is an exceptional property with exceptional staff. Looking forward to our next stay here. The room we had is the highest quality and sets the standard for luxury accomodation in south Iceland. Dining with the hotel is a highlight and the lounge area at the bar is very comfortable and a very nice place to spend time. The hotel is decorated with fine prints from around Kirkjubæjarklaustur that inspired us to seek more adventure. Great advice from Sveinn the manager took us down a little known road to some of the most beautiful views we have had in Iceland.

Vriendelijk ontvangst. We kwamen twee uur voor de inchecktijd aan op een zeer natte dag. Er werd meteen gecheckt of onze kamer schoon was, zodat we konden inchecken. Heel fijn! De kamer was ruim, licht en heel schoon. Het bed lag fantastisch, we hebben heerlijk geslapen! Het ontbijtbuffet was heerlijk en zeer uitgebreid. Ook waren er glutenvrije opties voor mijn dochter.

Awsome hotel!!

Check in was smooth and easy, public areas have a nice ambience, rooms whilst a little dated were clean as a whistle and quiet. Bed was super comfortable, the buffet breakfast was probably the best we’ve had on our road trip with very good variety. We had to leave the hotel earlier than breakfast start time and we were allowed into the restaurant earlier which was very much appreciated. Would not hesitate to return.

Trevligt och nyrenoverat hotell. Enkel parkering precis utanför. Frukosten var bra. Aningens varmt på rummet nattetid. Sängen var skön och de hade trevliga toalettartiklar i badrummet. Inte så många aktiviteter på själva hotellet men det finns mycket att se runtomkring på Island.

Ruhige modern renovierte Zimmer, sauberes Bad und gute Dusche. Sehr entspanntes Frühstück mit viel Platz am Buffet. Gute Qualität der angebotenen Speisen. In nur 200m gibt es einen tollen Wasserfall mit schönem aber steilen Wanderweg auf das Hochplateau, von oben hat man einen spektakulären Blick auf die Landschaft und die Flußläufe. Super für eine rund 1stündige Wanderung nach dem Abendessen oder für Frühaufsteher!

Clean, spacious, and well appointed. Good amenities. Good facilities. Decent area for exploring the surrounding area. Not much bad to say other than the lack of an ice machine.

There aren’t a ton of options in this area and we stayed here to be close to Vatnajökull. The hotel was very quiet and everyone there was nice. When we arrived we were originally in two rooms with only a view into a row of other rooms, but since we checked in on the earlier side they were kind enough to move us to rooms with a South view. But on our way to our room the person cleaning rooms told us to keep our windows closed because of insects. This made them really hot at night. Additionally when we first entered the windows had been open and there were a bunch of small non-biting bugs that looked like mosquitoes in the room. We ate at the hotel for dinner one night - it was very good but on the pricey side. The following night we ate at Systrakaffi and it was excellent for the price - easily half the cost of the hotel restaurant. Breakfast at the hotel had plenty of options, including some nicer choices of cheeses, smoked fish, and eggs and bacon - a great way to fuel up for a day of activities on and around the glacier.
