Very nice and different. Old, but still no big problems in a wheelchair. Nice staff!

The hotel is old and it shows in its rooms. However the atmosphere, staff and food more than make up for it!

A wonderful stay over before catching the Islay ferry next morning. We loved the common rooms and patios, with other guests ready to meet you and talk. The dining room is a beautiful hlassed-in room with a great view and food. LOVED the local mussels! Our room was in the newer section, comfortable bed and roomy bath. Only complaint was that the bathtub plug wouldn't seal, so I couldn't take a bath. The staff were so accomodating. We would definitely come back again!

Beautiful castle hotel, inside and out. Only suggestion I have would be to put a fan in each room during the summer, as you can’t open the windows due to the midgies and it gets quite warm when it’s 20° outside. Definitely take a hike around the island. Stunning views!

We loved our stay. Clean and very large room with extra seating area and large bathroom. Very clean and the staff was so friendly and helpful. We walked the grounds and saw some seals swimming. We ordered an afternoon tea and had a little car trouble so we called to let them know we’d miss it and they packed up all the food for us to take with us the next day. So thoughtful. The bar and restaurant were great. The grounds and views are beautiful. It’s a little bit of a drive from anything else we’d planned to see in Scotland but worth it to slow down and enjoy the scenic grounds and castle. I highly recommend it. Stay at 2 nights to get the full benefit. One night isn’t enough to get the full castle away from it all feeling.

Beautiful location & hotel was nice. The staff was friendly & useful. The only negatives we found were 1. The floors were very noisy/squeaky 2. We stayed there on a Summer day/evening, there was no fans or air conditioning so the room was very warm

Very friendly staff and beautiful location!

Loved the friendly staff and the hotel setting is stunning. . The breakfast was nice and tasty. The hotel room was comfortable with a fabulous view of loch fine from the window. We were in the area for a wedding and it proved difficult trying to secure transport back to the hotel from Tarbert the nearest town due to there being only one taxi car. As the hotel is 4 star, a shuttle bus for guests maybe an idea moving forward.

This is an older property with lots of character set in beautiful grounds. Friendly staff and brilliant food. Peaceful and tranquil break.

We enjoyed our one night stay. Lovely surroundings, very charming place and friendly staff. The room was old and like the hotel in general was crying for a complete renovation. Dusty worn room with lots of insects (moths and midges).

Absolutely lovely place to stay, being over 100 years old the property does show its age but that all part its charm. The location and views made the stay even better. The staff was excellent as was the food. Highly recommended and we look forward to returning.

Late May, fine weather and a very busy hotel. The staff were very welcoming and went out of their way to help everyone. The setting, trees, shrubs and walks were spectacular and the food and drink first class. A long way from our West Sussex home but worth it.
