I could write for days and not say enough good things about how utterly delightful this country manner that has been transformed into a hotel is. The grounds are impeccable, the room was spacious and clean, and the food was absolutely amazing. However, the most remarkable thing is the kind, friendly, and helpful staff who set this place apart from most hospitality places. They consistently go above and beyond to make the experience a truly memorable one. An example was a passing comment I made, as we were leaving about a place that we were going to visit, and they put in extra effort to tell me about and then show me a spot that we ended up visiting, that became a highlight of the trip. We had the evening meal, which is a three course priest fee that they prepare every evening, and I would highly encourage taking advantage of that. We also took a canoe trip that they set up for us in for which they provided a lunch. On the trip home, Jonas, one of the owners drove us through the forest to provide an incredible tour of the area. At every step of the way this place goes above and beyond, and became one of the highlights of the trip. Should we ever return to Latvia, we would go there and we would encourage friends to visit. A gem among gems.

What a darling place! Located among apple trees with walking trails headed through the woods the owners have thought of a dozen ways to make your stay perfect. Lights in the back with hammocks for your comfort, a firepit, swings and soccer for the kids. The room was cozy and warm. Cesis was wonderful, but Karlamuiza makes you want to just stay and be in the beautiful countryside of the hotel.

It’s away from the main building (700 m walk along the road, but there’s a shortcut) in a beautiful area. We enjoyed our stay, except for the couch. When we both sat on it, it automatically turned into a pull-out bed. Worked well when only one person sat on it. There’s no shower, but a tub with a handheld shower head. The tub itself was very comfortable.

Cadre sympathique; petit-déjeuner excellent. Lit aurait pu être plus confortable. Accueil parfait.

We had the luck of staying the weekend when a nearby town, Cesis, was celebrating its 819th birthday. We went to the festival and had a lot of fun. This inn is conveniently located on a trip from Tallin, Estonia to Riga, Latvia.

We had an amazing stay at Karlamuiza, our room was spacious and had very nice views, the bed was very comfortable. The surrounding property is gorgeous. The staff and hosts were friendly and incredibly helpful and accommodating. The dinner was amazing, not to be missed. It might seem pricey but we discovered that it was well worth it, Baiba is an amazing chef, she uses local fresh ingredients in a very creative way. We did the Sauna Ritual offered through the hotel, it was an incredible experience that was nothing like anything we’ve ever done. It opens the senses and connects one to nature and felt like we were experiencing an integral part of ancient Latvian culture. It was rainy that day so it was perfect to have the opportunity to slow down and relax. Overall I highly recommend Karlmuiza as not only a nice place to stay but a wonderful experience.

This was a delightful surprise, the property was exceptionally beautiful with great trails to explore!

A lovely find. A beautiful property in a peaceful location. The accommodation was spacious and we appreciated the washing machine. Breakfast was extra but with plenty of choice.

Un jardin superbe, une rivière pas loin, de nombreuses balades à faire et des cigognes ! De belles chambres bien équipées et un petit déjeuner buffet fourni avec beaucoup de produits frais (ça change). Si vous voulez dîner, pensez à commander avant 16h car tout est fait à la demande manifestement. Et pas de restaurant à proximité. L’hôtel nous a dépanné gracieusement avec des desserts vu notre heure tardive d’arrivée (nous n’avions pas commandé)

Schöne Unterkunft, alles wie auf den Fotos, Höhepunkt ist das Abendessen, es gibt für alle das gleiche 3-Gang-Menü mit Gemüse aus eigenem Anbau, bei schönem Wetter wird im Garten serviert, Menü kostet 35€ ( nicht 29€ wie in der Mail der Unterkunft angegeben), ist aber auch 35€ wert. Einziger Mangel: Duschtür war defekt, so hatte man während des Duschens plötzlich die Tür in der Hand. Gem. Info der Eigentümer sei der Mangel bekannt, eine vorherige Info oder eine nachträgliche Entschuldigung wären hier hilfreich gewesen, daher Punktabzug

A lovely place with friendly service. I think we had the smallest room but it was still large, with a kitchenette, including a fridge and stove. We had a lovely breakfast on the terrace with coffee and tea provided by the host (we had our own breakfast with us).

The hotel is located in a beautiful country setting, the food is fantastic and they really make you feel at home! It was a lovely way to experience rural Latvia!

Wonderful family run establishment. Friendly and had a great home made dinner outside by the apple orchard made by the owners. Everything was local and fresh from there garden. Nice !!!

What a spectular and beautiful setting! The family operating the hotel were wonderful and extremely helpful. We highly recommend the Karlamuiza and will certainly stay again when we return to Latvia.

Incredible service, amazing cuisine. The hotel is in the middle of nature, calm and resting. I would just add more light in the room and modernize the bathroom. Otherwise, we loved it there.
