Beautiful hotel in a peaceful location. All the staff are friendly and welcoming. We had a spacious room with a large window seat. Loved the bathroom towels which were big and very thick. The bar and dining areas are very inviting. Great breakfast, cooked to order. Wish we were staying longer!

This is an amazing hotel. Friendly staff, wonderful restaurant and menu. We loved everything about this hotel. We would highly recommend it. It is also a short drive to Windermere and Bowness too.

Nothing is too much for the staff at the Gilpin. Room was first class. The omelette my partner had was the best she'd ever had, apparently. Couldn't fault the stay!

Our 3rd stay

Our stay was impeccable. The staff, especially, were always on hand, helpful and very friendly. If you want a treat, good food, comfort, beautiful rooms, the Gilpin is the place to stay. Not cheap, but still worth every penny as you certainly get what you pay for.

Beautiful hotel & top class restaurant, can't fault it. Thoroughly enjoyable visit, perfect for that special occasion!

Underwhelming.

Very peaceful location a few miles outside Windermere. 2 Michelin starred restaurants.

It was very bad experience. We stayed 3 hours waiting to check in. most of the customers checked in 1 hour before us although we came before everyone. The receptionist was so rude when I pointed out to her that we waited for too long. They advertised the room is bed and breakfast and the breakfast is included. However in reality after we arrived they said we have to pay £25 per person for it. They also advertised the hotel as 5 stars, but in their sign it was 4 stars, but in reality it is less than 1 star. The room is so small, and smelly, with badly decorated/closure design. the carpet is filthy, became bald from too much use, and with many spots. The cushions appear as they never have been washed. The bed linens was not changed, and not clean. This experience spoiled our holiday.

Everything we booked for was exceptional, the room, the food and the service is excellent. Location is great closer to town by car. We will come back.

A beautiful, elegant and peaceful setting. Lovely staff, all polite and efficient. Food and drink all as expected at a hotel with a Michelin star. Perfect for a relaxing retreat away from the city.
