Charming characterful hotel

What a fantastic place to stay. Reasonably priced. Free parking in the grounds. Castle felt like a museum too. So many things to see and such a lot of history. My solo room was perfect. Breakfast was brilliant. Made to order. Selection of continental breakfast too. Will definitely come back.

Had a fantastic 3 night stay at lumley castle, the decor and character of the hotel were beautiful. All staff were pleasant and polite. Breakfast was lovely and made to order. We had a courtyard room which was lovely. Beds were comfy.

I came by train. A short taxi ride from the train station. So that worked well.

O lugar é lindo, parece um filme. Os funcionários simpáticos. Porém, obviamente é um castelo muito antigo e alguns cômodos tem um cheiro forte. A limpeza do quarto também não era boa. O café da manhã é bom, porém o buffet é colocado numa sala muito antiga com tudo aberto sem tampa.

Beautiful hotel with an amazing old world feel. Our room was decorated/furnished in keeping with the castle and was very clean and comfotable. Wandering through the castle and court yard is highly recommended to soak up the whole atmosphere. An added bonus for me was to meet Lady Poppet - Lumley Castle's resident cat ❤️ She and the staff were all very welcoming and helpful.

Room good. Staff excellent. Breakfast excellent. Bar, reasonable. Expensive and poor beer choice Dinner menu, same every day ☹️

Staff are amazing. TV' within the hotel rooms need to be upgraded to be more modern.

I love Lumley Castle. It has so much character, the rooms are lovely and I could cozy up in the Library Bar for hours. The staff are wonderful and it’s always a treat to stay here. Highly recommended.

Loved this place, felt really special. Loved wandering around the corridors and looking for the ghost! Breakfast was good, and the Guinness (at night time) was excellent

Amazing stay in a feature room in the castle. Staff friendly, helpful and respectful. Great breakfast. Would highly recommend.

If you are in the vicinity you must pay this hotel a visit. Close to A1. Tonnes of parking. Beautiful grounds and the castle is packed with history. Lots of ancient features kept and lovely that this is still a working property. The castle is wonderful and the vibe is chilled. Was thrilled to get an upgrade and the reception guy was super helpful and welcoming. Can’t believe I’m so late to this party!!

Excellent accommodation, couldn’t fault it in any way

Our room very clean and tidy but did need a little maintenance, ie. bathroom mirror was lose, main door needs draft excluder. The breakfast was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. The food was expensive but well worth having Highly recommend

Really didn't enjoy our stay. The room was dirty especially around the windows and in poor state of repair with multiple chips in the basin. We had to climb a very old spiral staircase to get to the room which would be an issue for anyone with mobility issues. Finally we were given a choice of breakfast either at 7.15 am or 10.15 and nothing was available in between.

Easy parking, staff lovely
