Very charming hotel, beautiful courtyard. I am very happy I got to experience this 800 year old hotel with such a pretty site especially that I came all the way from San Francisco. The only common is that we happened to stay during the heatwave, the room is extremely hot, and the room facing the street it is loud with party peorple walking by and talking loud - drunk on a Sat. night. Otherwise, I love my stay and highly recommended.

Staff absolutely fantastic in all areas, specially young girl training, she will be great!! Hotel bit dated, toilet seat loose but honestly no problems, would recommend and use again in the future

Breakfast selection good but not very hot. Room 49 has extremely noisy plumbing.

Highly recommend the red lion for a stay in Salisbury. Very clean and spacious with very helpful and friendly staff

The hotel itself is very comfortable and centrally located. The staff are outstanding and made our stay fantastic. I highly recommend this for a wonderful stay

The council carpark, Brown Street West, near the Red Lion does not charge after 6pm and only between 10am and 4pm on a Sunday. As of May 2026 the all-day Sunday charge was GBP 1.90.

I like staying in a brick oven, that smelled like stinky pickles- with a rude concierge… the courtyard was cute though.

Perfect location to town, staff pleasant, we kept throughout. Good sized rooms.

The hotel is beautiful from the outside but

Très bel hôtel dans un bâtiment très ancien et plein de charme. Nos chambres étaient dans la partie rénovée et bien accessible. Le parking au sein de l'établissement est très petit et la réservation est nécessaire, mais bien pratique tout de même (20£). L'hôtel est bien situé proche des lieux remarquables à ne pas manquer. Seul bémol, malgré cette vague de froid en ce mois de Mai, 7° en matinée et pas plus de 12° dans la journée, l'hôtel avait éteint le chauffage, et selon les dires des personnes à la réception, il n'est pas possible de le rallumer....... un peu dommage quand même pour ce niveau d'établissement !!

Beautiful property within walking distance of all the resturaunts and shopping. Staff was super friendly and breakfast was delicious.

Room was ok, staff was excellent abut the beds were very uncomfortable and lumpy. Also, it’s very close to a very loud night club so there is music playing until 3am on weekends. It’s an older building so you definitely hear your neighbors. Cute cafe but they don’t serve dinner anymore.

Well located hotel within walking distance from Salisbury Cathedral and the city centre.Comfortable room adequate for overnight stay. No parking space available on site so had to park in public car park. Would advise guests to remember to request a space

The beds were very comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Very friendly staff. Room was clean and very quiet.

I thought it was such an interesting hotel, obviously steeped in history, which is captured well in its decor and design. The look and feel of it is warm and inviting. The flooring on the second floor seems a bit weak, but other than that, everything was fine. The bed was smaller than what we're used to, but comfortable, the bathroom clean and the temperature pleasant with the window cracked. The front desk staff were very helpful when we needed something or had questions about getting around the city and sight-seeing. We only wished we'd been able to grab a fast, affordable continental breakfast - even just a pastry - before we headed out the door. Would like to stay there again someday!

Kallar inte detta svit, stort rum men ja det var allt, skållhett när vi kom, alla element stod på högsta värme trots varmt ute. Enkel fläkt fanns. Dålig frukost tyvärr, lite smutsigt, dåligt bröd och tyvärr var inte bacon samt äggröran varm, kaffet ok men maskinen var så dammig….Nästa gång till Salisbury tar vi in på annat hotell.

Staff and room were wonderful. We enjoyed our stay there and would go back again.
