For context, we stayed here as part of our honeymoon in Portugal, and it was by far the best place we stayed. The design of the hotel was beautiful. Everywhere you looked, there were fantastic views of the Douro River and surrounding hills framed by massive windows. The facilities were amazing. The staff was very very kind and helpful everywhere you went. The food at breakfast and both of their main restaurants was phenomenal. It really felt like a luxury hotel experience and was well worth the money. We couldn't have been happier about our stay.

The Octant is amazing in every way. From the beautiful location and setting to the excellent food and service. The Michelin restaurant was fantastic. Boat ride really fun.

Octant is a beautiful hotel, and the staff are next level - while we were out for a hike, the staff held on to our daughter’s doll. When we returned they had taken pictures of the doll doing all sorts of fun activities - from a massage at the spa to helping at front desk. Truly above and beyond!

Beautiful. Very relaxing

Our stay at the Octant Douro was amazing! They accommodated our early arrival by treating us to breakfast and getting us into our room well before check in time. They upgraded our room and consistently checked in if we needed anything and were so helpful to every question that we had. We will definitely be back!

Odalar temiz, çalışanlar güler yüzlü ve ilgili. Kahvaltı oldukça güzel, çeşit çok. Otelin restoranında çeşit çok fazla değil ancak bir kaç günlük konaklamalarda yeterli olacaktır. İki adet havuz var ancak bunlar oldukça küçük. Havuz keyfi yapma hayali varsa tatmin etmeyecektir. Otelin olduğu bölgede dışarıda yapacak bir şey yok. Gezmek isterseniz uzun bir yol yapmanız gerekecektir. Genel olarak biz memnun kaldık. Kısa dinlenme tatili yapmak isteyenler için önerebilirim.

Second time staying at the Octant Douro, this time bringing my daughter. Experience didn’t disappoint. Everything was great!

I read a number of the negative reviews (after I had booked) and arrived at the hotel with anticipation of being disappointed. I am glad to say we had a lovely stay. Food was good, staff helpful, it is a lovely setting. I stayed in the river view suite and the room was great. Design good and lots of space. There is a lovely walk along the river. My only regret was that I had not figured where the hot buffet was at breakfast. I only spotted it when I was leaving. Thankfully, I was not there when children were in residence. I saw that a number of previous guests had complained of child disruption/noise. I can see how that would affect the tranquility. Maybe check for times when children are least likely to be around if you want to enjoy the peace and quiet. I would definitely stay there again.

Beautiful modern hotel in a very unspoilt area. All rooms beautifully designed to make the most of the river views. The reception staff were superb and recommended a lovely local hike along the river/through villages. They also recommended a great gorge walk along passageways a bit further away which was beautiful. The food at Raiva was excellent and it was a beautiful room. A Terra food was more basic/standard. Breakfast buffet was great. We especially enjoyed the heated outdoor infinity pool and the beautiful indoor pool. All staff were lovely and helpful. I would recommend a room with an outdoor balcony to enjoy the views.

Absolutely fantastic. Book a room with a full view, it is worth it! Great place to stay and relax for 3-5 days...and it's possible to hike around the hotel to close-by villages.

Outstanding hotel, lovely for a small relaxing by the Douro river. Breathtaking views, amazing food and very nice interior decor. Staff are great (reception is exemplary!), however I would say that restaurant staff need to improve on their English as I felt service is much better in Portuguese than English (I’m Portuguese and my partner’s English which is how we noticed this difference). Otherwise, this has inspired us to think about going to yet another Octant hotel in future (we’ve been to the one in Évora before which is also great!)

Hotel de diseño con vistas estupendas al Duero. Tiene dos piscinas pequeñas, y un gimnasio y spa también pequeños, pero suficientes. El restaurante Raiva ofrece una comida y un servicio excelentes. El sumiller, Pedro, se portó especialmente bien con nosotros, explicando los vinos de la región y teniendo un trato muy amable. El hotel ofrece diversas actividades, como paseos por el Duero, excursiones, etc. Un lugar estupendo para relajarse y desconectar unos días.

Spa pas très grand mais très agréable avec très jolies vues. Chambre avec vue magnifique sur le Douro. Restaurant A Terra de bonne qualité à un prix en lien avec le standing de l’hôtel (compter 80€ à deux hors boissons)

Beautiful property with amazing staff from reception to house keeping. Sofia from house keeping made us feel so at home offering us extra water when I mentioned we drank a lot of water and checking on us when she saw us in the hallway. Kindness prevailed at this hotel.

This Hotel in my opinion is for somebody who wants to get away from everything, it's very secluded and quiet.
