This pub is a gem. Very near to the centre of York with a good carpark. Our room was lovely with nice carpets and curtains, a clean bathroom and freshly laundered sheets on a comfortable bed. The restaurant has a good menu catering for most tastes. My chicken and mushroom pie was excellent and my wife's fish and chips was delicious. There is a well stocked bar which retains the atmosphere of a proper Yorkshire pub. Highly recommended.

Stayed in room 4. Lovely roomy bedroom and en-suite equipped with bath. Shower section had mould but not enough to worry us. Noise from the pub below and the road outside but only to be expected. Lovely breakfasts both days and the evening meals were lovely. Beautiful Shepherds Pie and a massive piece of Gammon. Highly recommended. Deffo stay here again when in York.

The staff were extraordinarily friendly and helpful. The Pies were great. Breakfast was super. The Guinness was cold and perfectly drawn. The room was comfy. The shower was hot and stayed hot. Altogether a 5 star 2 overnights experience!

Staff great, parking great, very close to the city walls and Barbican. We ate in the pub one night, both had pie and it was huge. Breakfast great. If you want an old school pub stay experience, in York, you can't go far wrong. If I had a small gripe the bed wasn't amazing in our room but that said we'd happily stay again for everything else the hotel has to offer

Great stay lovely pub the bonus was it had it’s own car park, nice quirky rooms a bit dated but it’s an old pub nice big shower, staff very friendly, I was really looking forward to breakfast as I’d read the reviews but sadly it was really undercooked both the bacon & sausage hence the 4 stars but apart from that great stay.

Staff very efficient and helpful. Bed was not the most comfortable but still a very good choice of accommodation and would stay there again.

Lovely welcome from friendly staff, good atmosphere, superb food… amazing pies & excellent breakfast.. especially the Yorkshire eggs. ideal location for the Barbican. Good value for money. Front facing room but not that noisy. (3). Comfortable bed, tea & coffee facilities in room. If I’m being really picky needed dusting.. cobweb on light fitting.

Fabulous location, loads of character, good breakfast choice .

Mixed feelings about the place… lovely staff, convenient for the city and venues (Barbican in particular). Free car parking, decent breakfast. However the venue is on a main road and the noise is loud pretty much constantly and the property is very dated. I have to say the bed is the most antiquated and uncomfortable we have ever known. So in the most important way, the place is not really somewhere we could consider again.

Convenient to go to university and city centre.

The room was clean and comfortable and the food was excellent. Next time I visit York I will stay here again.

Clean and comfy room with all that was needed for me while at a conference in York. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the coffee was wonderful!

Stayed for one night at Crown and Rose B&B. Room is above pub and dining room but quiet. Room faced the back of the property so noise was minimal. No AC but fan is provided and night was cool. Room is basic but comfortable. Breakfast was good. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

Free parking and free breakfast, walking distance to the city. Very Good pub food and good beer selections . We were well looked after
