Staying in a beautifully restored cave hotel was a once-in-a-lifetime experience—truly unique, romantic, and steeped in history. The blend of rustic charm and modern comfort made our visit incredibly special. From the moment we arrived, the customer service was outstanding. The staff was warm, attentive, and eager to ensure we had the perfect stay. Their recommendations for exploring Matera were fantastic, making our experience even more enriching. Breakfast was simply superb! Each morning, we enjoyed a delightful selection of fresh pastries, local cheeses, and perfectly brewed coffee while taking in the breathtaking views of the Sassi. We received a very warm welcome and the service throughout was fantastic. The room was cozy, clean and special. The breakfast was great. I enjoyed the thoughtfulness of the locally sourced ingredients. Overall Matera is a magical place to visit and Fra i Sassi was a special place to spend the night.

이탈리아 여행중 만족도가 매우 높았던 호텔 중에 하나였습니다. 동굴속에 만들어진 방 구조이며, 다른 어떤 곳에서도 볼수 없는 정말 놀라운 경험이었습니다. 난방도 잘 되었고, 청결했고, 관라도 잘 되었고, 직원을도 매우 친절하였습니다. 주요 관광지를 이동하기에 매우 좋은 위치에 있으며, 테라스에서 바로 내려다 보이는 곳에 정말 맛있늩 맛집이 있어서 더 좋았습니다.

What a beautiful place. Clean, quiet, organized and very comfortable. Breakfast was awesome with plenty of local cheese, fruits, jellies and pastries. Strongly recommend this place.

Spacious family apartment, beautifully decorated and centrally located. Despite its central location, the accommodation is very quiet, and the beds are extremely comfortable. Breakfast was correct

Amamos ficar no Fra i Sassi. Tivemos acolhimento excepcional, recebendo todas as orientações necessárias. Ao chegarmos fomos direcionados a um apartamento confortabilíssimo, enorme, mas que ficava após uma série de escadas. Como chovia e este trajeto é externo, solicitei troca de apartamento. Soube que nosso quarto era o de maior categoria , mas não nos importávamos de estar em apartamento de categoria inferior pelo mesmo custo. Direcionaram-nos a apartamento no térreo, menor, mas tão excepcional quanto o primeiro, o que nos deixou deveras felizes. Café da manhã farto com apresentação maravilhosa e funcionários atentos a acolher nossas solicirações.Recebam nossos agradecimentos e parabenizo-os pela excelência e carinho ao acolher .

Wonderful charming hotel in the heart of the Sassi. The breakfast was phenomenal

Die Fra I Sassi Residence könnte die perfekte Unterkunft in Matera sein. Man kann kultig in einem bequem eingerichteten Sassi übernachten, es gibt ein opulentes italienisches Frühstücksbuffet und am Abend genießt man mit einem Glas Wein den unbezahlbaren Blick auf den Domberg und die tolle Altstadt. Die Lage ist einfach ideal, um Matera zu Fuß zu erkunden und es gibt eine Menge tolle Restaurants in nächster Nähe. Das Personal ist freundlich und hilfsbereit. Eigentlich würden wir dem Hotel sogar mehr als 5 Sterne geben, wenn unser Zimmer nicht in einem so schäbigen Zustand gewesen wäre. Dass der Putz in unserem Sassi stellenweise von der Wand kam, das Zimmer eines gründlichen Anstrichs bedurfte hätte und die Möbel nicht mehr ganz neu waren - geschenkt. Was für uns wirklich eklig war, war die dicke Schicht Schimmel, die wir an unserem zweiten Abend in der Dusche entdeckten mussten. Das darf bei einem Hotel dieser Preisklasse einfach nicht sein und gibt 2 Sterne abzug! Etwas gestört haben wir uns außerdem an dem vom Hotel empfohlenen Parkhaus. Da das Hotel mitten in der ZTL liegt, ist eine Anfahrt mit dem PKW auch zum Abladen des Gepäcks nicht möglich. Mit dem Transfer-Service der Garage klingt es nach einem Sonderangebot für Hotelgäste, es war aber unter dem Strich günstiger in einem anderen Parcheggio zu parken und ein Taxi zu nehmen.

The whole hotel is unique. Rooms are special. It is clean and well maintained. The staff was friendly and always prepared to help. Great breakfast. From the hotel you walk immediately into the old town.
