This is our first time at Citi by Marriott and even this is a low cost option, it didn’t meet our expectations. We normally stay at downtown La Paz but we decide to spend extra bucks to get a hotel with pool, the pool wasn’t open to the public. We got offered a day passes to the next door hotel and the pool was ok.
Also, we had to pay $30 for two towels at local La Ley grocery store, since the hotel won’t let you use their towels for the beach. This was ridiculous!
The staff is super friendly. Their breakfast buffet is good, from cereal, fresh fruit, juices, milk, coffee, scramble eggs, refried beans and some other different dish every day. They also had fresh sweet bread.
Rooms are basic, no safe, no mini bar but they did have an iron.
When we arrived everything seemed very clean but during the stay we realized they were shorthanded so the bathroom could use more scrubbing.
Parking is convenient and if you’re lucky to get an ocean view room, you can literally see the sunset from your room. This is not an ocean front property, the ocean view rooms are next to a dry dock so don’t expect to be able to see the sunset from other place within the hotel.
The upside is that you are across the street from the Calavera (skull hill) a very popular place in La Paz and next to the hotel there’s a small beach with a couple of free palapas. If you have a car you can go to better beaches close by.
