I recently stayed at Judges Court York for three nights and, unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience.
I completely understand that the hotel can’t control the heatwave we experienced, but the rooms were unbearably hot. The only cooling provided was a small fan, which made very little difference, and it was extremely difficult to sleep. For the price of the hotel, I would expect better facilities, especially air conditioning or a more effective way of keeping guests comfortable.
The biggest disappointment was the customer service. Most of the reception staff were rude, unwelcoming, and came across as uninterested in helping guests. The only positive interaction we had was with an older lady on reception, who was friendly and smiled when she let our friends into our room to surprise my sister for her 30th birthday. She was the only member of staff who made us feel welcome.
The rooms themselves are also very dated and could do with significant refurbishment. Overall, I don’t feel the hotel offers value for money.
I had booked this trip as a special treat for my sister’s 30th birthday, and she was very disappointed with the hotel. It’s a shame because the location is great, but the customer service, outdated rooms, and lack of adequate cooling really let the experience down.
