Sorry to say, this was my least favorite hotel in Sri Lanka (and the most expensive). The vibes were just weird, and the room did not have a secure lock - unsettling for me as a female solo traveler. It's very loud in the halls (no noise insulation), and dogs will bark outside of your first floor room middle of the night. I probably slept for 2 hours and couldn't wait to leave. There was also a giant lizard in my room just as I was going to sleep. I had a drink at the pub on site and found it to be charming.

La salle de bain est insalubre, de l'humidité plafond, mur, sol , tuyauterie rouillée. Ne pas prendre cette chambre très bruyante car à côté de la salle de restaurant et sur le couloir de l'accueil, donc toutes les personnes de l'hôtel passent devant cette chambre.

Clean room with hot water. Lovely receptionist who welcomed us on arrival and helped us with booking a taxi to Kandy. Only slight negative was it was slightly noisy in the mornings with staff members walking the corridors chatting and prepping breakfast. All in all really lovely place in a great location.

This is a wonderful, welcoming hotel. Special thanks to the staff - Benedict and Laxmi - and manger Duminda, who immediately made me feel at home. The rooms are spacious, clean, and exude a rustic, lived in charm. I will gladly return on future visits!

The staff were kind and attentive to our queries and requests. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Excellent food. I would recommend the Sri Lankan breakfast over the English breakfast, though. Fresh coconut sambol was magnificent! Wonderful and charming ambiance in the dining room and a smashing little pub (though they didn't have Guinness which I had to go to the Grand Hotel for). The little garden is a lovely spot to sip a cup of tea in the sunshine.

It was absolutely fantastic we were so well looked after especially by the very friendly and professional manager and his staff , rooms were very comfortable, food was excellent as was the icy cold drinks at the in-house Pub, this hotel gets 10 out of 10 from us , it was a pleasure to stay there , thank you Jay and Bluey from Australia

This is a fabulous olde world style hotel full of antiques and charm. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The gardens are meticulously kept and perfect for relaxing in after sightseeing - especially with a nice cold beer from their bar, the 19th Hole Pub. This is a good old fashioned bar playing great music, serving cold beers and mixing wonderful cocktails - get Pradeep to make you a Tequila Margarita 🍸! Then dine either at your table in the bar or garden or in the formal dining room choosing from a very reasonably priced menu and have Benedict recommend rice dishes of the day and serve you with very generous portions - try the Garlic prawns 🍤 🍤 🍤 Cannot recommend this establishment highly enough, Ho there, you will not be disappointed.

Very well placed and a good bar and dining room. The bedrooms are large but I had no hot water. It had seen better days but the staff were attentive. Hot towel and tea on arrival.

The staff were great, super friendly and we were made to feel comfortable straight away with a fresh hot face towel and a cup of tea, even got a free welcome head massage. Everyone was helpful with places to go as well as recommendations for the next stop of our trip. Your also next to the Grand Hotel opposite Victoria park so location is great but the thing letting the hotel down was the building needs a refurb. Bathroom door didn't shut as the wood had bowed, paint on the walls and ceiling were patchy, needs a little TLC but overall a great looking place and we were well looked after.

This os a very warm and sweet hotel just located near the town centre. Everything is just nearby and the the hotel itself is in good vibe. The garden, bar and the common room are a highlight for the hotel. I especially like the fireplace in the common area. Staff are super nice and helpful. Sincerely thanks for the staff who provide great help for the transport information for my onward journey.

Old style hotel, very comfortable. Staff are excellent and can't do enough for you. Some areas may need a bit of updating, but on the whole very good. The food is excellent.

Great value stay at this once state of the art 1930s hotel. Full of old world charm, white cotton sheets, surprised they were not starched. Huge bedrooms and with a bath. Big breakfast in the period dining room. Ideally situated and next door to the Grand Hotel with more opulence.

Das Hotel hat noch alten Charme ist aber doch stark Renovierungs bedürftig, insbesondere Bäder und Dielenböden, Lage ist top!

The hotel has some nice features but there were several housekeeping issues over the functioning of the bedroom and bathroom and the service at breakfast wasn't very attentive.

Schönes altes Hotel im England-Stil mit viel Charm und sehr freundlichen Personal. Toller Garten, stilvolle Bar und Billard-Raum. Zimmer sind vollkommene ok - Badezimmer könnte etwas Farbe gebrauchen.
