Arrived to find the property closed and in restoration No kitchen Monday/Tuesday Got a refund and went to the black bull! Far better

Lovely place in an idyllic setting. Comfortable and quiet. Great food and staff are friendly.

Perfect pub with rooms. Just what you want; great bar staff who couldn’t do enough, simple but tasty food, quality breakfast and a fantastic walk literally from the back gate of the pub. Bedroom was small - but we knew that when we booked. Would love to return in the summer as there were spectacular views from the beer garden.

Lovely village pub with great access to beautiful countryside. Very good food and lovely staff. Bedroom clean and tidy but a tad on the small side as was the bed which was a small double. Dog friendly, not just dog tolerant.

We liked the location of the b and b, just outside the main town itself, a quiet village, great service from all staff and food excellent too, prices vert reasonable and room very comfy too

We were in Room 3 which was very small and could easily be improved by changing or removing a chair which did not fit under the dresser and, as placed in front of the wardrobe, prevented easy access to the latter (Apparently Room 4 is similarly challenging). A need to be organized and agile! It "worked" for us as a one night stay and it is a great location for accessing the Pennine Journey walking route. Evening meal was good and portions generous.

We had a very comfortable and quiet stay in the Black Bull. The staff were all friendly, efficient and helpful. The evening and breakfast food was tasty. We can recommend staying there in this lovely part of the UK.

Just a comfortable place to stay, as it always is. A country pub doing what it sets out to do.

Gem of a place. Cosy, comfy room, gorgeous dinner and breakfast. friendly staff. Couldn't fault it, thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The only thing we were unhappy about was the fact that one day we had two sausages and two rashers with our breakfast,and only one sausage and one rasher the next morning!Most of the staff were lovely

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Very friendly staff & complements to the chef.

Room small as was the bathroom. You can switch on the bathroom light whilst lying on the bed. Sunday lunch, unfortunately lamb was tooooo over cooked, not pink at all. Disappointing experience.

Our 3rd time here probably says it all. Great pub evening meal, lovely breakfast. The bedroom was small but functional, comfortable and quiet. Will hooefully visit again on our way further north.
