I want to start with the positive. The room was large, very clean, the beds comfy and there was a/c, fridge and tv. The stay had what we needed and there were water views. However, there were no staff. Our key was stuck to a door with a message saying there was no breakfast so we’d be given a discount. We never saw another guest or member of staff and the building was generally run down looking giving off haunted house vibes. To get there you drive down a rather derelict llooking street with boarded up shops and arrive in a harbour area like a building site with what appeared to be a disused railway station next door. I am leaving this review so people have reasonable expectation of the place. Though the room itself was fine, nothing else about the place met our expectations.

Beautiful old building with grand staircase and gorgeous woodwork. Room was large and comfortable with lively decor. So convenient to walk to all the town. The host was amazing in responding to questions and needs. Can’t say enough to describe how beautiful and enjoyable a stay we had

Beautiful spot on pictou harbour. Historic building with gorgeous accents in and out. Bed was super comfy. And inn keeper was super helpful. Great stay.

Would only wish for a small table in bathroom to hold clothes for changing or toiletries.

What a treasure! So cool to stay in the old Custom House. A quick walk to everything, with water views. (As well as construction views, as to be expected at the beginning of the off season). The room was so spacious, with 11-foot ceilings. The furniture’s somewhat scuffed condition only enhanced the feeling of going back in time.

I love my room! Beautiful high ceiling, spacious, terrific bathroom.

Family has run the hotel since the 1990s. Staff are onsite and courteous. Housekeeper was a lifesaver when I forgot my video camera. Innkeeper is friendly and informative. Breakfast is not offered so rate was discounted without us asking. Area is by port so more commericial but had great views of the water and the ship Hector.

Great location, one of our favorite stops ! Everything is walkable and in a safe area!
