We stayed at this hotel for my graduation weekend while I was already sick, I specifically chose it based on the reviews. I booked through a third-party app (Expedia), and it did not note that a credit card would be required at check-in. Unfortunately, my experience did not match what I expected at all. When we arrived, I was immediately asked for a credit card. Most hotels offer flexibility with payment options, and I have never been denied a room I already paid for because I didn’t have a credit card on me. Instead of trying to help, the front desk staff member stood there with a condescending smirk and was not helpful in trying to resolve the situation. I was then told it would be three times more on debit. Or find a friend here. Ended up calling around to friends just to cover a $100 charge. After all of that, I was later asked if I wanted to charge drinks and snacks to a credit card that wasn’t even mine—which she knew.
When I asked if I could possibly get a late check-out by even half an hour or an hour because my graduation wasn’t until later, I was told I would have to “check back.” Again, with the same dismissive attitude and no effort to help.
The next day was completely different. The gentleman working was kind, helpful, and immediately said a late check-out was no problem at all.
Overall, the check-in experience felt unwelcoming, dismissive, and stressful, especially given that I chose this hotel based on positive reviews that did not reflect what I experienced.
