The person checking me in asked for more ID and personal information than they should have. Driver's license and credit card is normal, she also asked for my phone number and email. When I asked why, she said because we booked through hotels.com and also in case I ordered food delivery. I gave it to her, but shouldn't have.
Checking out the next morning, I asked the (different) person about this and they said they should not have asked for the info and it's not their policy. So now I'm monitoring my CC and other info to make sure it won't be used for identity theft.
Unacceptable that an employee can work outside of policy like this.
