The Expedia website for The Charles Hotel heavily promotes a deep soaker tub as being a feature of a Premium Room, and I switched to this hotel specifically for this reason. I immediately advised the front desk of my disappointment, and I was advised that Premium rooms do not have such tubs (I double checked the Expedia website at the time, the tub was still prominently advertised). I checked The Charles website, looks like only one of their 12 rooms has such a tub. Also, this hotel does not have an elevator, and no help was offered to bring up luggage. The walk-in shower was large and lovely, the bed was comfortable, and the food and service were good (very pricey). Beautiful grounds.

Staff are extremely friendly and I loved the little welcome gift upon arrival. Location was perfect. Right downtown and easy to walk or bike to everything. Our first room was comfortable, but not very bright so we requested to change. They kindly moved us to a much brighter room, which was an upgrade because it had a patio. So nice...but the bed was very noisy and not as comfortable, which was a bit surprising. We had dinner one night at the restaurant on-site and it was absolutely delicious. And our server was so kind and attentive! Highly recommend!!

The property is beautiful and the staff is really top-notch, especially the staff at breakfast. Food is phenomenal and everyone is so friendly. My only real Complaint that would probably stop me from going back was it was difficult to sleep due to the lighting and noise. The first night there was a party booked on the outdoor patio, which was right below my window. It ended fairly early, so that wasn’t a huge issue, but the room is very hard to lock out the light because they have lights strong on the balconies which do not get turned off at night and illuminate in the room, even with the shutters closed and there’s light coming in from the doorway and see the hallway. I understand it’s a classic old home and that’s to be expected, but it was hard to sleep. Other than that, it really is beautiful and located close to the water, golf course in the main road into town. If I do go back, I would stay in a room that doesn’t face the street

Nice property. Charming. Front desk attendant didn’t know where are rooms were’, but just lack of training. Still very helpful and apologetic. Wish there was a coffee maker in the room.

We had a lovely few days here. Great location with a lovely view over the golf course and just a few steps away from the shops and restaurants. The rooms were fab and the staff really helpful.

Had a great visit to the Charles Inn for two nights. Was picked up for a vineyard tour. Very friendly staff!

A nice historical hotel. Very quiet and well appointed rooms. Easy access to NOTL stores, theatre and restaurants.

Property was gorgeous! The staff were incredibly helpful and the afternoon tea was an incredible experience. The only con was that Netflix didn’t work on our room tv. Overall, I would recommend this spot for anyone looking for a relaxed retreat.

My wife and I got lucky with finding this hotel. We based our decision on pictures and reviews and were very pleased w/ the results. This hotel is within a block or two of the shops and restaurants on or near Queen St, very convenient and sits on the edge of Niagara on the Lake Public golf course, very peaceful setting. The building is nearly 200 years old which adds to the charm. The staff was warm and welcoming on-site dining and drinks are top notch. Amy will take your order and has a load of recommendations for activities and wineries. We would definitely stay here again.
