This is a beautiful and cozy house, aged but well maintained. The host is really kind and nice. Rooms are clean, beds are comfy, breakfast is fantastic. Kids love to play with the dog. Everything is wonderful, highly recommended.

A beautiful B & B run by Karen in a tiny hamlet near Keswick. The room was delightful with comfortable bed and furnishings that matched the age and style of the building perfectly. Lovely view from the window over Karen's wonderful garden with, at the time I stayed, a hen with 8 tiny chicks. Parking was easy and the breakfasts filling and delicious. A wonderful stay in the Lake District.

We had a fantastic stay and couldn't have asked for a warmer welcome. Karen was such a lovely host, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The property has a wonderful old-world charm that creates a truly comforting and relaxing atmosphere. The views are absolutely amazing, and the beautiful garden is the perfect place to unwind and take in the surroundings. Breakfast was a real highlight – a delicious home-cooked feast! And the wonderful homemade biscuits on arrival were a lovely surprise! Everything about our stay exceeded our expectations, and we left feeling refreshed and well looked after. We're already looking at dates for our return visit and can't wait to come back. Highly recommended!

Excellent host, great breakfast & a lovely place to stay.

If you crave staying in a quiet, away from crowds, completely authentic and historical place, this is it. It is an Elizabethan era farm house and grounds. Keren will look after you. It has access to trails nearby. Cooked breakfast served daily and the eggs are from the chickens on site. You'll need a vehicle or be able to take a bus out there - it's not in downtown Keswick. You'll need to travel a bit for lunch and dinner. And I think that is it's greatest advantage, it's a wonderful refuge from busy daily life.

This is a beautiful old property with a lovely yard and views. It is also located near the bus stop, trails to the lake and nearby forest. The host, Karen, is very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. The breakfast was delicious!

It was very beautiful and peaceful, beautiful accommodation. Good WiFi, and breakfast perfect. The lady of the house was very friendly and helpful. Very happy 10/10.

Wow! Can't say enough about this b&b, owner was welcoming even sorted some cakes and milk. The property is amazing full of character and wonky floors (proper old 😂) breakfast was fantastic, many thanks would definitely return if passing.

It was like stepping back in time as premises dated back to Tudor times. The views were fantastic. The owner looked after us very well, with plenty of cake & a good hearty breakfast.

Lovely place in a lovely location. Amazing views and I felt very well looked after, would reccomend highly.

This is a wonderful property with lots of historic charm and stunning scenery right on the doorstep! I stayed 4 nights and Karen really looked after me; delicious cooked breakfast each morning and a newly lit fire in the evenings to sit beside. She gave me a tour of her gorgeous garden and introduced me to her feathered friends; the chickens, cockerel and pheasant as well as her lovely dogs. Her knowledge of the house and area is really insightful and Karen was more than happy to advise where needed. Powter Howe is easy to find, has plenty of space for parking, and offers fantastic views facing the Skiddaws and Barf behind it. There is also a lovely short walk from the house and through woodland to Bassenthwaite Lake. Although the A66 can be heard it doesn’t detract from the beauty of the place. I would definitely recommend a relaxing stay at Powter Howe and hope to return again very soon myself. Thank you Karen, for making me feel so welcome and at home.

I had a wonderful stay at Powter Howe, a real treat. The room and bathroom were immaculately cleaned and well kept and the host is a gem who cooks the best breakfast which includes lovely free range eggs from her own hens. Waking up in the morning to the view over a beautiful garden beyond the lake to Skiddaw was an extra treat as each morning there was a new ever changing Lake District vista. I'll definitely be back!
