I have read all the reviews and to be honest they all do this property a disservice. The Alabama is absolutely a wonderful place to stay that is outside of the ordinary hotel experience (in the best way possible). I am staying at a 5 star hotel in Sydney during my stay here in Australia but while I was here I decided to come to Tasmania for a couple of days and this is where I stayed and I am glad I did. From the coolest retro decor to friendly people at the front desk you can’t ask for a better place to stay. One of the biggest complaints was that there were shared bathrooms however this is SHARED in the information upon booking and is not a surprise to anyone who fully reads before they hit submit. I would absolutely stay here again as it is in a super convenient, central part of Hobart and is incredibly easy to walk to almost anything that is needed in the downtown area. From groceries to food it is all just a stones throw away. 10/10 recommend to anyone who is looking to get away while visiting the magical place that is Hobart, Tasmania.

The name "hotel" is misleading. The rooms have no bathroom - there is shared bathroom. Clearly it should be advertised as hostel.

Loved the vibe of this hotel! It’s super friendly and relaxed with a cool lounge area to read, have a drink and listen to music. The coffee and bar area were great and Jimmy can give you some excellent recommendations for places to eat! The room was small and simply furnished with a warm comfy bed and clean shared bathrooms on each floor. I was travelling solo and this was the perfect option for me to be centrally located and have fun, friendly people around! Think cool Amsterdam vibes but in Hobart!

Good location and quiet clean room

The room description on Expedia did not make it clear that the bathroom was down the hall and shared. Other than that, everything about this little hotel was great!
