Ilo Rojo is on hill, a steep hill. And at first it seems daunting, but it is worth the climb. Our room had a generous balcony/terrace that looked over the city and beyond.
The staff here are extremely efficient, helpful and friendly (a special shout-out to Lupita, Martin and Angel). There is a bus stop almost outside the entrance, which runs every 5 minutes or so it seems and for a whopping 8 pesos you don't have to walk the 20 minutes to downtown (or more importantly back up.)
The restaurant is small with a simple menu, but no matter, there is an abundance of fantastic restaurants in the town.
There is a lot to see and do in San Miguel de Allende, and Ilo Rojo is great spring board to start them
We'll be back
