A dying village in the middle of the moors. The property was very old and while an attempt had been made to bring it back to life, the result is a very dated premises with poor plumbing. The hosts were very friendly and informative. Access was given the the outdoor kitchen, hot tub and garden.

Lovely ‘simple self-catering’ in the heart of Dartmoor. Great set of appliances to have a nice coffee and brekky in bed! Coffee and non-dairy milk included - thank you Terry :) we really enjoyed our stay and had a super sleep. The hot tub looked inviting but the weather was just a bit too miserable for us to venture out there. Next time!

Bed was lovely nice linen .. basic facilities we paid a lot more then my friends £10 extra to take your dog .. shower was only hot for myself and cold for my partner same for my friend’s.. needed to find a toilet roll from downstairs as only half in the room which wasn’t quite ready at 3:40 .. ok for one night

Hot tub was nice. Handy to have the flipflops. Quiet. Enough room facilities. Bed comfort nice. Parking great. Easy 2min walk to pubs/food. Preferred the feathers pub next door and breakfast at the old police station.

Definitely our fave new stay. Run by a lovely couple who go out of their way to sort any issue and make your stay perfect. Our room was spacious and had everything we (and our spaniels) needed plus more. The hot tub was huge and awesome for tired legs and big enough to share with other couples without being awkward. The changing room with hot shower and plastic glasses for our wine was more than I expected and having robes in the room made it feel like a posh spa but way more comfy and much better value for money. Cannot recommend more highly!

Great accommodation and location

Simply perfect for a memorable stay in the heart of Dartmoor. We hadn't planned to stay until a few days before hand, but having seen the fantastic weather forecast decided to book (initially) a 1-night stopover on our way from Shropshire to Looe in Cornwall. When we started to research Ramblers Rest, we simply had to make it a 2-night mini-break, as it sounded so good. We were not disappointed. We were welcomed by Terry who gave us a thorough tour of available facilities as well as our room etc. They've created a perfect USP, which suited our own personal preferences perfectly, offering all the necessary kit for basic self catering. The Super -king bed was so comfortable and the luxurious bedlinen guaranteed a great night's sleep. The added bonus of the BIGGEST hottub I've ever dreamt of, meant we had a fabulous pre-holiday, holiday!!!! Nikki and Terry are incredibly friendly and certainly well-deserved winning Four in a Bed. I'd like to say we'd return but unless we can have wall-to-wall sunshine and 18 degrees, which we experienced then it wouldn't be the same!!!!! Highly recommend a great value stay at Ramblers Rest, Princetown xxx

Extremely warm welcome, well equipped, warm cosy room, nice hot shower. Would stay again and perhaps in the summer to enjoy the hot tub in a warmer evning after a day walking the moor. Thanks for the great stay and recommendations/discounts for food in local area.

Great hosts, good discounts on local venues. Shame we were unable to use the hot tub.

The room quality and amenities were incredible for the price. As well as the building the owners are such kind people. If you’re visiting princetown, book your stay here because you will not regret it.

Fantastic location central to lots of great walks. Hot tub was nice especially on cold rainy day. Room was lovely and clean and Nikki was super friendly and helpful.

Felt really taken care of and the location itself is awesome. Just the right amount of convenience and comfort for an amazing value stay.

We had a lovely one night stay. The hot tub was great and the beds were very comfy. Having a drying room was a good bonus and we appreciated being able to borrow things like plastic glasses to use in the hot tub and sliders.

Superb place to stay. Everything you could need was available in the room with lovely additional features like the fridge, microwave and coffee machine. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had a great bath and shower. We were met by the owners and shown round the facilities, including the amazingly large spa pool! It was December for our stay but we managed 90 minutes relaximg in warm water before venturing out for food. Warm, welcoming and comfortable! Would highly recommend a stay at the Ramblers Rest!

Great place, owners went above and beyond

We got here late last night. Nikki was very helpful. Everything was as she said. The beds were comfortable and all was clean and tidy. We loved the quaintness of the place and am looking forward to a hike that overlooks the ocean.

Visiting out of season on Dartmoor it was still well set up for guests. The location itself was perfect with food and drink just next door. The guys expect muddy clothes and boots after a day on the moors, and couldnt be more helpful to offer local advice. The hot tub was fantastic, offering a great chance to chill after knocking up some miles, with a lovely fire place to warm and chat after. Thanks for a great stay
