Direkt neben dem Bahnhof und trotzdem ruhig — die Lage des Castle Hotels in Berwick-upon-Tweed ist prima. Das Team war durchweg freundlich und zuvorkommend. Die Zimmer sind praktisch geschnitten und sauber, genau das was man für eine gute Nacht braucht. Für einen Stopp in Englands nördlichster Stadt eine solide Wahl.

Wonderful breakfast, quiet & beautifully decorated room

The Castle Hotel is an unpretentious independent hotel close to the train station in Berwick upon Tweed. It is in an atmospheric older building which was probably originally assembled from several attached buildings. The clientele was principally local, and the hotel had a genuine sense of place. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the Northumberland breakfast was very good. The location was an easy walk to the downtown and the historic waterfront.

Some of the positive reviews are likely from week-days. NEVER go here in the weekend. Your room is above the hotel's pub that makes your stay unbearable. It is not just people having a drink, but actively partying and shouting with a dj. This place should not be listed as a hotel. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere.

Staying in the iconic Castle Hotel in Berwick is very convenient and close to the train staion and the town. Highly recommended if you travel by train. The hotel staff is friendly and provides free cold breakfast or charged hot breakfast. The room is clean daily and the little downside is the little drainage smell inside the room but not affected the 5 star experience.

The hotel staff were friendly and a decent cooked breakfast (extra). The room was comfortable but wash hand basin in single room was tiny. Only 'on street' parking available.

Excellent freshly cooked breakfast and served at exactly the time Iasked for. Friendly, efficient staff throughout. Nice beer with fair prices. Will definitely be booking again.

Location great, nice breakfast and very friendly staff. Parking was easy. Hotel looking a little old in parts but clean room and well serviced. Good if you keep in mind it is an older hotel.

Room small but had most of what I needed. Except soap/ hand gel. Got this at reception. Comfy bed and room warm, cold night so extra fan heater was needed. Booked 9 a.m. for my continental breakfast but server seemed to be unaware I was coming so table assigned hurriedly. Breakfast tables in the bar . Needed to wear my coat since room was cold. Had cereal, toast and marmalade, yoghurt, orange juice and tea, all self service. The one staff member was taking full breakfast orders and spent a lot of time in the kitchen and appeared occasionally.

Basic hotel but clean and tidy, comfortable bed, friendly staff. Continental breakfast was nice. No spoon in the room to make a brew. Did not have any food for an evening meal

The room was very comfortable and clean. The staff was kind and the breakfast involved a nice chat with a staff member who made me feel at home.
