The location and surroundings were very pleasant and the whole experience was much better than some of the negative reviews suggested it would be. Just a one night stay and overall satisfied.

No heating. Room very cold. Reataurant only open for breakfast. Had to drive for dinner. Only saw 1 member of staff who was very helpful

Fabulous comfy rooms

The room was not especially clean. When you went into the en-suite there were cobwebs, and not even at the ceiling level but just above eye level. The heating was on full, there's two radiators in the room, I turned them both off, but the room was still boiling because there was a very large pipe connecting the radiators and it was effectively itself a giant radiator which couldn't be switched off. Why does the building's heating need to be on full at 3pm in March anyway? The four poster bed was squeaky as anything. Any time one of us moved in the night, the other woke up. I can't imagine how other residents would've appreciated us working through the Kama Sutra. The staff member who checked us in seemed soulless. We didn't have the brekkie but then we'd seen he Four In A Bed episode where almost everybody got the wrong order and half of them got egg shell in their food. On the plus side, the extractor fan was attached to our ceiling so not all bad.

Staff were pleasant room was lovely we had the honeymoon suite. Breakfast was spot on. Only thing that lets the hotel down is no bar so if you fancied a nightcap, you couldn’t get one. But would definitely recommend this hotel so the only downside is no Bar but can live with that.

Freezing…. The whole building looked like it had been abandoned. The duty desk manager gave us a portable heater, the room was clean with fresh bedding and towels but not vacuumed. No carpet on the stairs where I very nearly fell down them. It looked neglected! Such a shame.

The room was very old tired and out dated with mould up the walls. Worn out furniture and very old uncomfortable mattresses, dirty carpets, rust and mould around the bath and shower, ripped net curtains with what looks like air riffle holes in the windows. The room was ice cold all night we had to stay fully clothed. The whole hotel didnt have any heating on. Other people living in the hotel and other guests was in and out the fire exit door all night slamming it shut every time the door was right outside our room also the room above was banging about all night so we had no sleep and had to go to work in the morning. Reported to reception when it opened in the morning said i would get a call from the manager but im still waiting for the call

Clean room, been partly modernised since my last visit but still somewhat dated and paintwork etc needs touching up. Smart TV in the room this time though it was very slow and while the apps worked, the main live channels didn't seem to. Not anything which really bothered me but may others. Breakfast was cooked to order and fantastic. Friendly staff throughout, speedy check in. A big improvement since my last visit, still a little way to go.

The breakfast was reasonable and the room overall was good with a really good shower.

First impressions of hotel as you drive up the drive are very good. Ample parking available. Welcome at reception was friendly and were shown room. Room was satisfactory but decor was a bit dated with adequate key lock. Beds were a little bit rocky and soft but still slept well. Breakfast was of a good size however was fried not grilled, the sausages were cheap quality and no choice of egg type.

Parking area good, though poorly lit. Room good but curtains were see through and didnt prevent any early morning light. Problem with wifi, staff did all they could, and was very helpful. Big problem with directions. Google maps took me to Hero's Place and a cul-de-sac that was difficult to turn around.

The worst hotel stay I’ve had in years, from the initial booking I got conflicting info from staff about a late check in due to being at a wedding, then I had to request the key safe code for my room and wait around for it late at night as it was never sent. The bed was not at all comfortable! The curtains were not blackout so was woken VERY early by the sun, the bathroom didn’t have an extractor fan so the mirrored walls quickly steamed up and the condensation never disappeared so you couldn’t use them to get ready without getting a towel soaked wiping them down. The cleanliness left a lot to be desired, dead insects and stained carpets. The walls were also paper thin. The breakfast was pretty sub standard, bacon and sausage barely cooked. I wouldn’t ever stay here again!

Nice quiet location and good breakfast. Signs of refurbishment underway but there was no disturbance from this.

Excellent stay
