What an amazing cottage! My husband and I loved our stay and highly recommend. The owner went out of his way and was extremely accommodating and kind. Overall, excellent stay!

My wife and I travel a lot, and so far there have only been four places in my life that have genuinely altered the way I see the world: 1. Ryutakuzenji in Takasaki, Japan 2. McGann’s Pub in Doolin, Ireland 3. Guardian Guesthouse in Giza, Egypt 4. Zermatt, Switzerland I say that because Herring House is now one of those places. Sitting on the porch of the cabin, feeling the cool breeze move through the grass, surrounded by the silence of the town—it was so tranquil that it genuinely blew me away. The owners are friendly but never intrusive. The cabin is quaint, comfortable, and full of charm. The town itself is so picturesque it almost feels like you’re living in a movie. If I had to pick one negative, it’d be that the Wi-Fi is weak and slow. But honestly, if you’re coming here planning to spend your time on the internet, you’re missing the whole point of the experience. This is the kind of place that changes you for the better. I know I’ll be coming back.

Excellent accommodations with a great view. Hosts were very welcoming and had good information about the town. Darkest room I slept in for the entire week while having the biggest windows on two sides!

We loved the view from our little cottage! The cottage itself was clean, very well decorated and equiped with all the amenities we needed. A few steps from the small but charming village also. We also enjoyed the outdoor whirlpool ! The owners were very welcoming and quick to help us with our inquiries. I would definitely recommend !

Herring House is a great place to stay--I enjoyed it immensely. I booked one of the cabins which included access to an outdoor shower. Although somewhat skeptical, the proprietor, Helga, convinced me to give it a try. Glad I did--truly an amazing experience even though the temperature was a little above freezing. The accommodation was extremely clean and ideally situated with restaurants within easy walking distance. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Siglufjörður.

The cabin was extremely comfortable and warm. The location was perfect for the town and the view of the church and mountains across the fjord was spectacular. We were warmly welcomed and felt nothing was too much trouble. Thoroughly recommended.

Das ganze Guesthouse ist sehr stilvoll, gemütlich und liebevoll eingerichtet. Die Gastgeberin ist sehr herzlich und fürsorglich. Für die Zubereitung von Frühstück und Abendessen (Mikrowelle) ist in der kleinen Küche alles vorhanden. Die Betten sind sehr bequem. Alles sehr gepflegt, einfach perfekt. Unsere beste Unterkunft in Island. Siglufjördur ist ein ruhige, wunderschöne kleiner Stadt.

I stayed in a room with a View! It was really relaxing to stay in this excellent and friendly guesthouse.

We enjoyed our stay at The Herring House. Helga & Dagur were fantastic hosts. Breakfast was great: yogurt, breads, homemade jam, meat, fruit, juice. They kindly provided gluten free bread on request. The need was comfy. The room was dark and very quiet. We had a cabin with its own bathroom. Just be aware that the shower is outdoors and shared.

The accommodations were exactly as advertised. Our cabin was cozy and everything that we could possibly have needed for a two night stay was there for us to use. The owners are awesome hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed our chats with them.

Great pizza just down the street and the guest cabin was super charming. Very quiet and comfortable. Very nice host. 10 out of 10!
