Excellent country hotel staff very friendly

Lovely property - breakfast was okay, staff very pleasant.

Nice character. Excellent staff. Excellent food. Small niggle, huge room but tiny bed in the Portsmouth. And croquet lawn looked in need of some love.

We liked the location and quality of this hotel together with its history. We really enjoyed our one night stay which met all our expectations - well done.

effortlessly accomodated a last minute request for a sofa-bed to be made up in the room which was lovely and spacious. late checkin and late checkout also provided

Very disappointing hotel; a one night stay in November cost £195. When booking, I requested a room on the Ground Floor, as I had three heavy bags with me. This was allocated to me. However, when I was shown to the room, there was an internal flight of stairs, just to get to the room! Eventually, I was given another room, on the upper floor, but the lift was not working. No discount offered. Room not soundproofed; no fruit or yoghurt at breakfast; closet door did not close properly. Highly inaccessible throughout.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely and the views over the garden were beautiful. We walked around the grounds which were extensive and felt like a different world. Breakfast was good.

Delightful Victorian building with chic modern furnishings. We woke up to see wild deer in the grounds! Staff were all helpful and pleasant. Bed was large and comfortable. A very enjoyable stay.

Light and airy room, excellent linen and very comfortable bed. Lovely decor and beautiful gardens. Most convenient for Glyndebourne, just sorry didn’t have more time to enjoy our stay.

This property is an historic gem and reasonably priced. Generous room, best breakfast and relaxing lounge. Staff a little lacking.

This is a hotel which really lives up to it's high rating. The staff and service were super, the food was great, our room was comfortable and warm. Nothing was too much trouble. If only every hotel was this good!

Very pleasant and quiet location. Service and food are excellent, and its very cosy on a cold winters night.

This is a lovely building with an interesting history. The staff are very helpful, the food is good and there is a lovely, peaceful lounge which is so nice we invited friends over for coffee.
