First, this was not booked as a 1or 2 star room. it should have been a nice room with amenities. The only good thing about this place was the location, on the canal, but it wasn’t worth anywhere near the value advertised.
The check in process was awkward. It was virtual, there was no lobby or desk, just a kiosk in a dark hall with a remote person. They did not have facilities to leave my luggage, since I was early. They finally agreed to put it in my future room after some discussion.
2nd, it was 3 floors up a narrow staircase. The hall was dirty, the wallpaper torn, the stairs stained and it was a very narrow steep difficult staircase. Anyone staying should know this.
3rd, the room was tiny. In order to open my suitcase, I had to use half of the double bed I didn’t use or I would have tripped over the open suitcase on the floor. There were no amenities in the room, no coffeemaker, no breakfast available. When I asked for a kettle, I was told there were none available. Some rooms had coffee makers, not mine. There were no convenient cafes open early in the morning. I walked about 1/2 mile to the central station for coffee at 630 am.
4th, the electricity was off during the first night and almost the full afternoon and night of the second day. It came back on around 1230 am. Then there was quite a bit of noise as people moved around. They didn’t come to see if I was okay in the dark, or offer flashlights or anything. No communication or explanation from management.
