The place is abit run down could do with a little tlc but staff were really friendly the rooms were clean.

A get what you pay for hotel that is in need of a bit of TLC. Not filthy but definitely needs a good clean. An old false nail was on the stairs for 3 days, cobwebs in the room but bathroom and bedding was clean. Broken bed frame made sleeping uncomfortable but just about bearable. Mattress comfortable though. No food in the hotel despite a really nice unused Bistro area. Location was ok if you are happy to walk up and down a hill. About 20 min walk to the beach. Parking on site is very limited but had no problem finding a space on the nearby roads. Nice independent cafes a short walk away. Hotel staff helpful and friendly, if anything a little too over the top friendly. The hotel was fine a night or 2. Not sure we would go back again though.

I booked 2 rooms. Mine was fine (apart from mould round the shower), and had a fantastic view of Barry Island, however, the other room smelled really bad, and was so hot that my daughter couldn't sleep. The car park wasn't great. Yes, you can park on the street, but I drove up to the carpark and had to reverse out, down a steep slope. I didn't use the facilities as I arrived late and had to leave early, but I understand the bar was pretty expensive. I would most likely stay again, as the room was a good price, but if I get a stinky room, I'd complain straight away.

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful . Didn’t use the bar , although looked quiet. Room was good size and had a good view. Could actually open the windows sufficiently too! Good location. I abound have read that much quicker to get off at Barry than Barry Island

It was great. I would ask if they are hosting functions at the time of your stay as it can be quite loud (especially if your room is above the function hall). Other than that it was a fantastic stay.

Ok shame no swimming pool anymore

Clean room Nowhere to park for miles. Check in we were told there was a party that night till late and absolutely no food served any more. Certainly not a boutique hotel- reminded me of son's student room in Liverpool. Mattress like a wooden board and the room was unbearably hot. It bore absolutely no resemblance to the website. Avoid! Will pay the bit extra for premier inn next time

Dated & need’s refurb

Cheap and cheerful a nice clean space to rest my head. The outside could do with a spruce up but for what we paid and how close it is to the train station for Cardiff I have no complaints! Will definitely stay again when attending a concert in Cardiff. Staff were really nice and helpful. Bed was comfortable and the pillows were perfect! Nice big towels too. For the Gavin and Stacey fans Gwens house is only 0.3 miles away so a great place to start if you’re site spotting 😊

Everything was on top quality and staff verry nice and helpfull.

The staff were all amazing, they were there for whatever you needed and happy to help. The place was very well located, close to the train station and with beautiful views over Barry. The room was very good for the price, tho it lacked some basics (like a bin on the bathroom), and it was in need of a retouch. I'm fact, the whole place, while clean, needed a small refurbishment. It was sad that at the time of the stay they couldn't serve breakfast on the beautiful room they had at the front of the hotel. Maybe next time

Hotel was clean enough, rooms quite basic. No food available at all, not even bar snacks. No bottled water behind the bar. A basic hotel , reasonably priced, train ride from Cardiff which was useful

Staff were amazing, we stayed during a heatwave and they were helpful with ice from the bar. Other instances such as needing forks, hangers in our room and new towels were treated with the same professionalism ! The rooms do need a bit of updating but for what it was the price is exstremely reasonable. The room was very clean when we arrived. We didn’t have any housekeeping during our stay, but that is our preference so this did not affect us. Ideal stay as a couple visiting Cardiff or the surrounding areas.

Not great if you don't have great mobility top of a steep hill , but apart from that hotel is lovely , staff very helpful
