Nice hotel, reasonable price, good location, complimentary breakfast was nice, staff helpful

Staff were beyond friendly and accommodating. A little noisy when the pubs let as it’s on the Main Street, but great location.

Exceptionally great value for a busy seaside town such as Newcastle. Check-in staff was excellent as were the rest of the staff we met. The continental breakfast was absolutely adequate and free, so great value. Room facilities were adequate as well and the bathroom was great with plenty of hot water and shower get, shampoo etc.. Great location, free parking right outside and nearby. Highlight was The Donard being so dog friendly and dog welcoming. Definitely now my place of choice to stay when we visit Newcastle.

Staff at the hotel were excellent, nothing was too much trouble.Stayed in triple hotel room, while the view was disappointing the room was fine. Bed’s comfortable and comfortable old definitely stay again.

Couldnt have got a better room room 201 lovely views of the town and mountains just wish had more than a night to stay... did not sample food so cant comment on that... small critique the windows on outside could be cleaned other than that perfect bed was comfortable as well

Stayed just for 1 night having stayed the same time last year. Staff were superb, friendly and welcoming, they acknowledged they remembered us! We noticed the small touches like the amenity kit in the room containing toothpaste, razor etc etc - just about anything you'd have forgotten! Lovely big bed, everything felt clean and loved in what's clearly an older property. Breakfast was continental, seems more choice with mini pastries added alongside cereals, breads for toasting, fruit, yoghurt, tea, coffee and a pot brought to our table - it's possible to upgrade to a fry. Only issue we encountered wasn't the hotels fault - lots of noise from cars revving on the road and the pub downstairs - wasn't the easiest to sleep with a front facing room, but once we did we did well! A shout of thanks for calling me promptly to say I'd left my jacket!

The Donard is an older property that is well positioned on the main road in Newcastle. Very friendly and nice staff makes up for the older rooms that are not air conditioned and a bit noisy due to the cars, trucks and motorcycles going by on the road.

Easy walk to the seafront & local shops & restaurants Lovely breakfast in spacious dining room. Glad to have a King bed Great base for our Game of Thrones Tollymore forest walk.

Great stay at the donard. Excellent facilties and a professional and courteous staff. Fantastic games room which my children really enjoyed. Room exceeded expectations. Will definitely return.

The room was spotless and the staff were welcoming and helpful. There was a complimentary continental breakfast which was nice. The decor could probably do with updating, but this didn’t really affect my stay. This was a lovely hotel at a good price.
