The hotel is in a good location, on the outside it looks a little run down, but inside is recently refurbished and stylish. The rooms are spacious with a lovely sea view, although rooms are not updated, it's decent and the wifi and tv has many good options. Check in and out is smooth so overall, excellent value 🙂

To say this hotel is advertised as a 1.5 star the hotel was impressive VFM but ... Be aware parking can be very tricky... I drove around for an hour on arrival trying to wait for a spot within a few hundred yards as my car was jammed packed with luggage for next day ferry crossing. I ended up parking on a 2 hour bay in town and walking back to hotel. A bit of a scary prospect. (2 hours only counts from 08:00 -18:00 so just about feasible but security wise I wouldn't recommend. Otherwise I'd have been considering a top rating.

Breakfast very poor. No sink plug in en suite room. Minimal supply of tea bags and milk for in room refreshment. Sunken mattress. Feeling of neglect.

Breakfast as good as i expected for the price. Nothing cooked, self serve cereals toast etc. Place very clean, decor decent though some odd choices of colour and wallpaper. I would definitely stay again if the price was right.

Yes loads of parking, the room was not clean the beding was dirty no hot water for showing trouble at night outside at 3 in the morning and police in the building an the staff not nice there no out side key if you go out for a night you can't get in

Free parking which is so handy. The room was much better than expected and was clean and comfortable. I think we lucked out on the room we got. Decent for cheap I didn’t really see any staff other than one man who wouldn’t let us in the building after we had returned. We had to get our friend who had already to come home to let us in and then he made us stay so he can check the room was booked for 3 - despite me saying it was booked for 3. In one sense this is good for safety but another sense we were three young girls in early twenties with an older man who was getting aggy with us. But I do understand it’s for safety ? When trying to find a staff at reception to ask about parking no one was there and did not come for ages so we just left it.

The hotel has good parking and a grear location and it is really cheap. The lounge and bar area are pleasant but the rest of the hotel is tired. We had a kettle that had been burnt through the bottom by a cigarette. Quickly replaced but surely it should have been checked? Paper thin walls so the louder residents were audible. Not sure if it's a halfway house for homeless or whether it's where workers stay but they were all loud and smokers...not the best.

Travelled by train,bedding and towels spotless,property needs updating.Didnt have breakfast just coffee but everything looked fresh.

I had to stay for a night and it says free parking. This was three weeks ago and I just had a 120 pound parking fine come to me for parking in their carpark. Its a bad place. Dirty, cold and filled with scallywags doing drugs.

Possibly the worst hotel I’ve ever stepped foot in. A Dirty, smelly, confusing layout, unwelcoming hell hole.

Cleaner is definitely NOT doing their job! Yes the hotel is dated but theres absolutely no excuse for bad cleaning it'll ruin their business. Cleaner was outside our window smoking all morning so we couldn't even open the window in our room. Reception staff very friendly and helpful couldnt fault them at all.

The location is wonderful right on the seafront, with a car park. The property itself could do with modernising throughout. The bar area vibe doesn’t match the style of the building. My room wasn’t particularly clean the headboard had dust and the tv was covered in dust and the remote was sticky and dirty. The shower didn’t have hot water. We didn’t have a comfortable sleep as the bed was hard and lumpy. If the rooms had a refresh it would be a great place to stay.

We always stay at the carlton when visiting folkstone the staff are very friendly and flexible with helping out its always hasstle free.

i booked 4 single rooms for 4 guests which also included a late check out , even though i wasn't staying. i was woken up by the hotel giving me a early wake up call at 3am !! in reference to the hotel windows were draughty and only single glazing my guests who needed the late check out was woken up by cleaners trying to get in the room overall experience hotel clean but probably wouldnt recommend
