This was a staycation for my husband and me, and after returning from an amazing holiday in Vietnam, we thought we’d try this fairly new hotel. While Newport Hotel is clean, quiet, and fairly nice, unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations. We truly appreciated the attentive staff and the peaceful, somewhat secluded location just off the main road. Unfortunately, the food was another story. My tuna salad, spring rolls, and fries were edible but definitely subpar. There were several disappointments. The pool water was green. I was told it was because of rainwater, but regardless of the reason, I was not comfortable getting into green water that could potentially contain algae. The advertised double bed was surprisingly small and uncomfortable. The bathroom was extremely small, with a tiny shower, and a large trashcan positioned behind the door prevented it from opening fully. The refrigerator and room phone also did not work. Front desk washroom did not work. Breakfast was perhaps the biggest disappointment. The choices were eggs, sausage, three pieces of toast, bland vegetables, oats, and either Lipton tea or Nescafé. As a vegan/pescatarian, my choices were essentially toast, vegetables, and oats. Hot chocolate was available, which was a nice touch, but the overall breakfast was underwhelming. Overall, this was not a horrible stay, but the experience did not deliver the comfort, quality, or value we expected. Unfortunately, I would not recommend Newport Hotel.

I liked the layout and its very modern. Good and friendly staff.

Will surely stay there on my next trip.
