Close to city centre and ideal to visit Floriade. Parking availabe on property. Unique design of property. Pity that room size was much smaller than showing on photos shown on website. Staff was friendly and helpful.

This is my favourite hotel in the entire country. I stay at Ovolo if I can in every city. Even my own! and also including overseas (Hong Kong). The stand out for me at Nishi is the design, the bed linen that is superb and the location. I came for a national photographic portrait prize and you can always pop by what is on. Floriade, another visit to the National Gallery, etc. One thing I noticed, mini bar used to be free. Its gone from great to reduced to a few things to pay for mini bar. It is the thing that set you apart except for the above, for me.

The hotel is about 15-20 mins walk from city centre. There are cafes and restaurants near the hotel for a quick bite. We stayed at the original sun room which is spacious and overlooks the lake. Lighting is not bright enough though there are many light settings in the room.

We found the rooms to be particularly dark with no natural light even in the middle of the day- and without sufficient in room lighting for day to day tasks such as working, applying makeup. Corridors were also very dark with no natural light making it difficult to navigate to eg; the car park. No window with outlook to tell if it was sunny or raining etc Also re streaming tv service - we were able to use chrome cast to stream - but there was NO sound making it unusable.

Great for a brisk walk to the Convention centre

This stunning property is all about 'COOL' from the moment you arrive in the eclectic space (an architectural gem) to the rooms themselves. An open area for the bar and casual dining, with fireplace and funky objects on display as well as a massive descending staircase that takes you to a first-class cinema (no need to leave the hotel) and at the time of my stay the Scandinavian Film Festival was on show! If only they had not closed their dining room, an inviting space with an excellent menu for the omnivorous plant-loving dinners: now just a simple spot in the bar with a limited choice :(

Stay was ok staff were lovely at check in but didn’t think this was a 5 star that people raved over. We stayed in the meandering room. No sports stations on the tv, facilities were low and wasn’t what we felt people raved about.

Top spot and worth every cent.

Amazing design in and out

Cheaper parking would be good. Restaurant staff friendly and very hard working.

The bed was very comfortable. Candy bar had lindt chocolate during Easter which was amazing treat for kids. Booked room for three but was only provided towels for two, had to request room service to deliver another one. Hotel Parking was third party run and not easy, straight forward. Breakfast was just ok.

Interesting architecture but the interior lighting is really poorly designed. We needed a head torch inside our room to locate switches and plugs and the 'mood' lighting in the hallways made it almost impossible to see room numbers on the doors. With no ability to increase the level of lighting in rooms this suggests little attention has been paid to practicality. The rest of the hotel was interesting and the staff excellent...but we would not stay there again.

Friendly and helpful service in a contemporary hotel with atmospheric drinks and dining. Excellent breakfast. Compact rooms are snug. Convenient to Canberra CBD and Arts Precinct.

Comfortable bed. Dark room. Quiet room. Small car parking spaces. A la carte dining. Probablity would not choose to stay again.

Beautiful hotel

The exterior looks beautiful but the rooms itself are small and dark. There was a smell on the pillows and just generally didn't feel clean inside the room. The VIP Access benefits of daily free drinks are only available between a 4.30-5:30pm window... If your staying for work, you'll never get it and they won't let you claim it any other time. Never had this experience at a VIP Access hotel...just don't offer if you don't mean it.
