Sandman Hotel & Suites Calgary South

Hotel was clean and quiet. Pool was great and we had it to ourselves. Staff were courteous and quick to fix the one small issue we had with our room. They don't allow deliveries up to the rooms so that is something to plan for, but overall our stay was great.

Great hotel when i stay in Calgary. Close to where i need to visit and overall very convenient.

It was great for our girls day shopping trip. The pool was definitely on the small side, and we had to ask for our room to be wiped down as the counters in the kitchen were still full of crumbs. But great location, easy to get to, lots of shopping and dining options. And the staff were great!

I didn’t like how COVID had apparently reduced service. The only way to get your room cleaned, as per other hotel, is to request it. This seems like a cop out. That meant that we had no Kleenex unless we asked. This should be an amenity that is readily provided. Upon arrival there was no one at the front desk to check us in. Someone appeared after 3 minutes. Serive was disappointing.

Excellent service and the staff were super friendly

The location is amazing, easy on and off Deerfoot. Walking to stores. Staff was great. My disappointment is that I cannot get just coffee for the room so that I can make coffee, watch the news, then get ready and go out. Your coffee has dark chocolate in it. My family seems to have an intolerance to chocolate. If it was a Keurig machine I could easily bring my own or buy from Walmart next door. Security is awesome

Unsafe was the bathtub surface. Very slippery surface even without soap. We told them about it.

Great staffs, very clean hotel , nice room, lots of parking space, walking distance for restaurants & shopping areas and very safe.

The only issue we had with this location was that my children were hoping for a 'bigger pool, with a water slide.' Other than that, we enjoyed it, like we do every other time we've stayed at this location. Thank you

We stay at the sandman every time we are in Calgary! Love it here

While staying there, for 3 nights, our room was not made up once as I couldn't find card to put on the door. The third night we had to call for towels and were told by the housekeeper that if we wanted our room refreshed we needed to put a card on our door. When we checked out, there was a DMF charge on our bill. This is a Discretionary Management Fee. What in the name of god is that. We didnt have our room cleaned or the bed made and no additional shampoo, no conditioner at all and one facecloth for two people for 4 days. If I stay at this hotel again, I will tell them up front that I will not pay the DMF. Have stayed thete many times and this was definitely the worst time.

- What appears to be black mold in the shower caulking which is a safety hazard - What looked like a lens of a camera in the top vent above the toilet - light reflected off of it similar to a camera lens - Lime residue on the shower head which looked like it was from a Junji Ito horror manga - Loose washroom door handle and lock - Nasty residue above the toilet - What looked like "carvings" and various damage in the wood of the washroom cabinets - The TV is on the room's desk instead of a stand which makes it impossible to sit and watch TV from the chair while sitting at the desk - People in the hotel rooms beside mine literally slamming and hitting objects against the wall - Strong smell of feces in the hallway between the pool and the laundry room right as I was bringing my laundry to the room - when you consider that the pool also has a multicolored RGB light in it, and the fact that the LGBTQ flag is also multicolored, this makes a suggestive reference - Maintenance person right beside the laundry as I went to do my laundry making very loud noise and running grey pipes which looked like they were from a Junji Ito horror manga - Maintenance person mopped the floors between the elevator and laundry right as I was bringing my laundry back to the hotel room - A patron who saw me walk in and bring my stuff to my room threatened to kill me while talking to the hotel manager
