The Old Courthouse Inn

We loved the vibe of this whole hotel: the very welcoming hosts, the way it’s decorated with antiques, the delicious breakfasts in Edie Mae’s Cafe in the mornings. It was a great base for exploring the Powell River area, and we highly recommend staying at The Old Courthouse!

I liked the ambience with the old world charm of the setting and furnishings. The room was comfortable and the made to order breakfast from Edie Rae’s restaurant on site was included as part of my stay, so a real bonus. The old world style chairs in the room could use replacement as the cushioning filling is practically gone and super uncomfortable. The only other piece is that I didn’t mind the 9 a.m. breakfast start but the description in the room amenities did say that ‘for early risers there would be mini muffins ice, and snacks in a separate room.’ The only thing in this tiny room was the ice machine and a vending machine with for pay snacks. Not terrible as there was an espresso coffee maker in my room. Overall, I would still recommend staying at the Old Courthouse Inn and I will return.

This place is awesome! It reminds me of Fawlty Towers in all the right ways. I showed my extended family photos of the hotel, and they all wished they had booked here. They give you a key! An actual physical key! Loved it.

What stood out? Everything!! The decor was right up our alley, being Tudor and filled with furniture from the period. Built in 1939 it’s a total throwback to a different time, and very well done. The owner checked us in and gave us a lowdown as to how everything worked. He then went back to wallpapering the inside of a glass front cabinet, totally hands on. The room was spacious, and decorated for the time. The bathroom was quite big with a wonderful showerhead. The bed was comfy, and the. Ending nice and warm. There is a great Indian restaurant a couple of minute walk away, and your room key gets you 10% off the bill, a nice plus. Our included breakfast was great as well, the trifecta. We would absolutely come back and stay, and highly recommend you check it out as well.

My daughter and I stayed here while in PR for a hockey tournament, and we loved it!! Room was clean and pretty. The charging cubes in the nightstands were a hit, and the little candies made our day!! Loved the good pressure in the shower, and the bathroom was nice and clean too. Staff was great. Bed was comfortable, and we loved the pillows. Will totally stay again if we have to go back for more hockey in the future.

What a wonderful stay at this cozy hotel. I got a warm welcome and stayed in a beautiful room. The breakfast was great and I long to return.

They embody hospitality at its finest and made us feel like part of the family. And then there’s the breakfast… wow. Included in our stay, but truly worth raving about on its own. Words almost fall short—it was creative, delicious, and clearly made with passion. Every bite was a delight, and it's not often you leave breakfast already planning your next visit. If you're looking for a place with character, heart, and true hospitality, the Old Courthouse Inn is it. We can't wait to return!
